Hi.
Has anybody given reiki on a new tattoo to aid it's healing? If so, was it effective, and are they really that addictive? :) I understand tattoos have a similar effect as that of an acupuncture session...?

Graham,
I have had two tattoos in the past year. I did self reiki during the sessions and afterwards. I also used tea tree and comfrey and lotion on the tattoos. They were done within a month of each other.
The effect on me was to make me feel like something was out of balance and very not right with my body. (talked to priestess and she said it was holes in my aura) It has taken me a long time to get to where I am feeling more balanced and like I fit inside myself again. This is even tho the one tattoo was envisioned for almost 10 years before I got it.
I think that it can become addictive but I am not willing to go through the unbalanced feelings again so I won't get another one.
I have had accupuncture before (regularly for several years) and this is nothing like that. With accupuncture I always felt more complete and always felt balanced afterwards.
I like my tattoos but they have cost me more than just money. I often wonder if it would be different if I wasn't so sensetive to energy.
Love and light,
Carolyn

Graham,
Namaste.
Tattooing is nothing like acupuncture and vise versa. :-}}
Although if one were to have reiki symbols tattooed in the right places?? - who knows.

Firekeeper,
Hi there. Tattooing and acupuncture are two things i know very little about, i just hear things in various places, and and i'm often reluctant to take anything for granted until i've gained a wider scope on whatever i'm interested in.
However, i think tattooing of Reiki symbols and the kanji would be highly disrespectful, and i cringe at the thought of someone actually having it done. :)
I think this sort of thing happens when something is 'flavour of the month', and overexposure ensues.
I'm worried about an upsurge of new reiki practitioners about in my corner of the world, that claim to know 'everything there is to know about reiki', and have anything but good intentions for using it.
There's even an ex-convict who gives reiki I-III attunements in a weekend, in two 4-hour 'workshops', can you believe. Basically, he knows there's money to be made in reiki attunements, charges a high price and more or less takes the money and runs! People like him are giving reiki a bad name. Any thoughts my friend? Sorry to go off subject, but this was on my mind. :) Namaste.

Oh, I quite agree about tattooing the symbols. I am not a proponent of tattooing in any manner. :-}}
This also raises the issue of making jewelry with the symbols incorporated.
Ah, there have been con-artists everywhere at all times in history. And many never serve a day in jail.
Nevertheless, their karma will accummulate according to their deeds.
As for the (ATM) reiki classes, people who jump at what looks like the quick path may find it to be a dead end - or with more trevails than they anticipated.
But each must chose. :-}}

Redheaddragon,
Thanks for your reply :) Holes in the aura you say... I wonder if the same goes for body piercing?
Back to acupuncture, a reflexologist i know was saying even piercing in the ears, all the way around the edge of the ear can unbalance things, because there are many acupuncture points there, and have a sort of reverse/negative effect because the piercing is left in constantly...? This is probably totally wrong, but i was just being curious. I think i'd better buy a book on the subject :)

Hi Graham,
I think that tattoos are a reminder of something you forget from time to time and want to be reminded of. I don't believe they are good or bad it's just intension of what that person might need. People show love and respect in funny ways sometimes, I don't think most people are trying to be disrespectful, but many people aren't taught what respect is these days so it's hard for them to know.
As for the tattoo aftermath, way the options. You know how to heal yourself so it might take time to recover, but you will be ok again. Do it as a ritual and it will hold more power for you and the symbol. (What ever it might be.)
Happy inking,
Joanna

Hi Graham,
I look at tattoos and body piercing as minor surgery. We all know that any surger on the body can throw it out of balance for some time. Surgery is also a trauma to the aura. Even a minor surgery has its consequences. It takes a lot of work to heal an aura that has been weakend, and we can do that with simple accidents.. Why take a chance?
