A question about tinnitus

Namaste all,

I've been thinking. I'm suffering from tinnitus, a devilish disease. It always appears stronger when I'm under stress, which I am now. Besides having its own noises inside my head, it also enhances all sounds around me and at the same time it lowers my hearing ability. It feels like I have a thick cover as well as pressure over my ears. I have accepted the disease long ago, but it irritates me enormously!

So why do I post my complaints on this board? Well, I believe tinnitus is connected to stress (I know all don't agree to this). Simply put, could it be that this stress symptom is a way of telling me that I should get rid of the cause for my stress? Or that I have a lesson to learn about patience and/or doing one thing at a time? This latest outbreak is caused by our redecorating of our home - on my initiative :)). The job has been ongoing for a month now, one room left, and I'm just mad about all the mess in the house! I should have known the tinnitus would show up...

As alway, I reiki myself every night before sleep but it has had no effect on this bl.... nuisance.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Love and Light
Brit

Greets, Brit,

There's a thread in Reiki DIscussion on tinnitus you might wish to see... #54190, called "Reiki and tinnitus?"

If I recall, it doesn't quite address the link you suggest between stress and tinnitus, but it offers other information. I think the stress angle is an interesting observation, and something I'll have to think about in terms of my own tinnitus. Since my Reiki attunement I've been paying different attention to my own physical discomforts, too.

Gentle patience and light to you (and I'll take a dollop of that and apply it to myself, too! ;),

Brit,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- the actual "cause" of tinnitus, as far as I know, is as yet undetermined - as is a treatment

- having said that?? I wonder why you are mad about the "mess" that has come about (temporarily) from the project you initiated??

- perhaps there is somethng to consider in this dynamic vis a vis your "stresses" - this one sounds self-inflicted, so to speak

- one view has all "illness" or "disease" as an imbalance of one sort or another

- if tinnitus, at least in part, reflects an imbalance perhaps try the brief, simple pranayama I have for restoring general balance - some have reported regular practice helps with headaches including migraines

- let me know by E-mail if interested and I will E-mail it to you

- take care,

reiki all around,

all blessings,

Dear Featherpoint,
There are clinical studies out that support the use of ginkgo biloba, 120 to 160 mg daily, for long standing tinnitus. The positive benefit was related to the dose, smaller doses did not work.
( I read Lunarreiken's response to you, went to that old post & by mistake sent the reply above to that post. So, that's why it is in 2 places. HeHeHe, maybe some ginkgo is in order for me, but for other reasons!! :)

peace & joy,

Last year I developed the ringing in the ears oftne sounding like a radio station gone bad. After visiting doctors and a secialist, they could find no physical cause and I had learnt to live with it.

However, I had an observation just recently. I live in the city where off course noise is constant, but when I went to the country where it was so quiet you could hear people talking across the lake, the noise in my ears stopped. You can imagine my suprise. Once I came back to the city - you guessed it - the sounds were back.

I am fortunate to have a wonderful doctor who is very opten to holistic treatments etc. and he agreed that it is most likely the sensitivity to the energy.

Not that I can do much about it as I still live here and cant move for now but thought I would pass the information on.

Otoharo!

Copper, when I could talk with my Teacher, who is channeled, I asked about the various sounds I hear. At times I hear a shifting that screaches. There are other sensations hard to describe. She checked and found that I was hearing earth plates shifting. That is very seldom.

I hear high ringing from time to time. That is a spiritual vibration.

I hear what I call "dry flies" which people in the south know all too well. That is the sound of the third density.

Today, I am noticing that the sound of dry flies has faded, though still there, and a louder humming is coming into prominance. I do not have access to her now, but I am assuming, this means I am in transition from third density to fourth.

Hi Holobon!

This is interesting. I will most definitely let my father in law know about the ginkgo bilboa. I was out with him tonight, and he brought up his tinnitus, but conversation changed quickly (as it is wont to do in a crowd of people) and I didn't have a chance to elaborate further. But I will mention it to him when I can.

Thank you!

Hi Featherpoint,

When you stop to think of the size of the inner ear structures & how they handle all the noise that we subject them to..it is quite a marvel that we can hear anything in this day & age.
Actually, as often is the case here at the Cafe, while researching this, I found that gingko has other uses I was not aware of & there is a very good reason to try it myself...so, I thank you all for posting the question. After all, there are no concidences!! Perhaps you led me where I needed to go. :)

peace & joy,

Hi Holobon,

Don't you just love how things like this work out? Everything for a reason, whether we realize it or not, and with Spirit's blessing we are led to discover it when we need it most.

Have a wonderful day!

With light and love,
Featherpoint

Hi Brit. I have noticed, on my very brief sojourns into tinnitus (we are talking about only a few minutes out of a day every now and then) that it is ALWAYS at a time of very high stress for me. How this translates physically from stress to tinnitus, I do not know. Perhaps it raises blood pressure, putting more pressure on all sensitive areas in one's ear? Or perhaps it is the ringing of my own guides trying to talk to me, or trying to send me the energy I need to get through the ordeal.

Luckily for me, I don't go around with this as a chronic condition, but I do sympathize with those who do. It so distracting!

I also sympathize your decorating woes. We started replacing every window in our house in early June. All of the windows are now in and new moldings done around them inside. We have also removed the old shingles and are replacing them with new vinyl siding. My house and my yard have been in total chaos since June, as so much had to me moved in each room in order to replace the windows and then paint (I did all the painting myself.) Finally the windows and painting are done and now I'm finishing replacing or altering curtains (nothing seems to be the same size as before). Some I have made myself from scratch. I'm exhausted and happy to be finally putting my house back together. It was a mess! All those moldings were cut inside the house, also, and you should have seen the sawdust floating and covering everything for weeks and weeks!

I really hate living in chaotic conditions, but the change will increase the value of my home tremendously. One has to protect their investments, and my house (which is finally paid for!) is the main part of the inheritance I will leave for my children one day. Wouldn't do to let it fall into total disrepair. Plus, now it will look like it belongs on the street with a lot of new houses that have popped up over the last ten years.

Blessings and light to you.

Lionheart

Greets,

Just a note on gingko biloba, which overall is a great plant -- the Harvard Medical School says that in large doses it can work _against_ fertility in couples wishing to become pregnant. I recently came across this in a friend's book, a guide to increasing fertility.

Just in case someone has a client with tinnitus who's also trying to conceive. :)

Namaste all,

Thank you for your comments, suggestions and kind sympathy. I had never heard of Ginko Biloba's effect on tinnitus before. Will certainly try that also!

So this latest outbreak might be self-inflicted. Sort of serves me right, eh? Being stubborn (yes!) and a bit impatient I want the job done now, preferably yesterday, once I've made up my mind. And we are "happy amateurs" in this area so if it can go wrong it will. These kinds of projects teaches you a lot of your willingness to compromise... A tough lesson :))

I think I got the answers I needed.

My mother has been taking gingko biloba since last April, and so have I. We both find that our memory has improved. As for her tinnitus, she cannot say yet, but a few times lately she had the impression it completely stopped for a few seconds. She felt so strange about it, and it was such a short time she doesn't yet want to say it is improving. Also she's been doing an ear Reiki treatment daily since I attuned her in June.

A few years ago, on top of the normal ringing in the ears my mother started hearing from time to time what she described as 'explosions'. At night it was rather frightning as it would wake her up suddenly. I have a friend who makes vibrational essences and I gave my mother the one called Clairaudience, since I was not using it. The explosions stopped almost immediately. About 6 months after she finished the bottle they started again and I ordered a double size bottle. Again, as soon as she took the essence the explosions stopped and have never returned since.

Dear Holobon, Usually a large dose is more than prescribed by your physician or more than the recommended dosage on the bottle. Also like for any medicine, whether herbal or pharmaceutical, if one feels anything disturbing or unusual, one should immediately stop taking it and refer to their doctors. I am taking an American preparation called Solgr and each capsule is 520 mg of which 300 mg ginkgo biloba.

Did you know that all the ginkgo biloba trees in Hiroshima survived the atomic bomb? There is one tree in the courtyard of a school which is visited by people from all over the world. The school and all the surroundings were completely destroyed and the tree is still up with just a burnt scar on its trunk. It is hardly impossible to burn a leaf of this wonderful tree... Ginkgo biloba trees are beautiful, over 40m. high and in autumn their leaves turn a deep yellow. They are used to decorate many cities. Quite a lot of specimen are several hundred years old, like 700 years if I remember well. No wonder since it seems rather difficult to harm them...

Another wonder plant is the sacred lotus. Did you know they managed to germinate a seed 450years old from that plant?

Nature is more than wonderful and deserve all our care and love and all the Reiki we can spare.
love, light and beauties to all
Viviane
