The Flu

Hi everyone, I have the flu. I feel like crap. My question is, is there something attached mentally to the flu. Since alot of illnesses are from the mental and so many get the flu every year are we all thinking the same thing? Just a thought. We have the same symptoms.

Otoharo!

Sherry, this episode has arrived through an epidemic. I doubt that you have brought it on yourself. However, Only the immune system can eleviate it. These are things I have found in the past that are related to colds and flus:

difficulty in release of the old
physical exhaustion over time
all work and no play

I asked for an antidote some years and ago. It is this: laughter. The comic books of Calvin and HObbes is marvelous for this. Reiki treament from a trusted practicitioner at the earliest sign is marvelous too.

Hi Sherry

At the first signof and during any boutof the runny nose feeling like wotsit warmed up, I sprinlke a few drops of essential oils on my pillow at night and on a handkerchief, for during the day.
I use lemon, tea tree and eucalyptus..
This helps keep my nose clear, thus giving me a better nights sleep, which means I tend to get over it a bit quicker.

According to the book "Reiki for common ailments" by Mari Hall the emotional cause is as follows
"Have you been doing to much?. Have you stressed your body beyond it's maximum capabilities? Getting thr flu can also indicate that yoy need time to intergrate your life expieriances. Where are the emotional issues that need to be released? What thoughts and feelings are you holding on to that weaken your immune system? When will you say yes to yourself even if it means saying no to another person?"

That probaly fits a lot of people. so it might be a bad year for the flu.

Personally, I think that Finalitys answear shows more sense, But if any of it fits.....

Get well soon

Namaste

Hi Sherry

Flu itself is a virus, this we know. Depending on how strong your immune system is at the time of contact depends wether it will affect you, so any emotional / mental attachments will have to do with the immune system, such as stress, overwork, tiredness, not eating etc. lots of rest/sleep and some homemade hot toddies, and A good book

Hi Sherry....sorry that you feel like crap. Me too!
Funny that I have just felt well enough to even look at my computer after having been ill for quite a long time and here is your post.
synchronicity.....
I am just in the horrid throes of my Eighth bout of flu for one year.....and each has been nasty and lasted for many weeks.....this one the worst. I am totally at a loss to understand why my body is so poorly....my immune system must be shot! The sad thing is, this year, endeavouring to get my health on track after some scares in the past, I have spent the year under the guidance of a naturopath, eating a special healthy diet, using herbals etc and homeopathic stuff, and I have NEVER been so ill in one year!
Anyone shed some light on this! (I mean....a few months of illness I thought could be explained by the flushing out procedure, detoxing perhaps, but twelve months??????)
Suffice to say, where I was not depressed all year, now I am feeling it lurking there, and it scares me somewhat....
I appreciate your post, and the answers so far....food for thought....
and I hope you are feeling better soon Sherry....
Best wishes and all beautiful energy....
Wendy

Hi Sherry I agree with what everyone is saying on this one. What works for me to help me sleep is Lavender on my pillow and a hot bath with Lavender, this works wonders I find with flu and mental resting. With a hot honey drink to relax after..

Love and Blessings Simonne

Otoharo!

Wendy, I have been wondering where you were! You must take care of yourself. Your family needs you and the world needs you. My post on flu tells the story. I hope you get your rest.

Hi Sunshine!

Eighth bout with flu this year! How nasty! I hope you are able to overcome this for good this time around.

I wonder if you are suffering some allergic reactions to some of the herbals you are taking? Also, are you taking any other medicines besides herbs? The mix of both may be contributing to some of your health concerns. I am not a doctor, but my understanding is some herbs do not react well, and may cause problems for some illnesses, and their medications. Maybe check into that side of it. You can do a google search on any medicines, vitamins, minerals, and herbs you are taking, but search it as 'contraindications of ....' This will bring up lots of information about the signs and symptoms of possible over-indulgence on the particular item you were searching for. If you find anything that concerns you, and/or relates to your symptoms, consult with your naturopath and/or doctor.

Hope you are feeling well soon!
With light and love,
Featherpoint

Hi Wendy, I am so sorry to hear of your year of the flu. that is terrible. I recently started going to a herbalogist. The same thing happened to me. I know about the cleansing and all to but I was starting to feel terrible. My back was killing me. My sister goes to her to and she asked how long it would take for all of this cleansing and to actually feel better and she was told about 2 yrs. Well not for me, I now take just coral calcium. My back feels great and I did feel better til I got this flu. Anyway, I decided for now I just want to feel good, I might die tomorrow, I can't wait 2 yrs to feel better. Anyway, Hope you start feeling better soon.

Sorry to sound practical and non-naturopathically herbal but have you tried getting the flu jab? I get it every year cos im diabetic and in a risk group, and I've never regretted it.

Otoharo!

Sal, I use two products also. Tramane is the brand name for a homeopathic version of shark cartiledge. If anyone's interested I will post the information on that board. This year I've added the Perelandra MBP 2002-2003 Flu Season Balancing Solution. It has been altered for this season to be specific for this year and is thus preventive and balancing factors have been added to help the body acheive balance after flu if it occurs.

Thats ok to sound practical. But no I will never take the flu shot. It has been determined by doctors that it caused my brothers ALS. That is when it all started for him when he took the flu shot. Yes the flu shot helps alot of people but it has been known to do bad things to.
