Namaste Holobon,
I e-mailed the person who sent it to me and there seems to be no English translation close at hand. In the mean time, I found (via internet search) another Sai Baba --this one Sai Baba of Shirdi spiritual master who helped those less fortunate. The SAi Baba I had been thinking of was Sathya Sai Baba . I too would like to understand the meaning and will share as I find out ( if i do find it) Perhaps the meaning will be at hand in experiences.
In the meantime, this poem, Om Sai Nameh made its appearance on one of the sites:
Om Sai Nameh
I asked for strength
And Sai gave me difficulties to make me Strong.
I Prayed for Wisdom
And Sai gave me problems to learn to solve!
I asked for Prosperity
And Sai gave me brains and strength to work!
I prayed for Courage
And Sai gave me daughters to overcome!
I asked for Love
And Sai gave me troubled people to help!
I prayed for favours
And Sai gave me opportunities!
I asked for Humility
And Sai gave me experience not to be proud!
I asked for Sai to grant me Patience And Sai said "No"-Patience is a By product of Tribulation.
It isn't granted.It is earned.
I asked Sai to spare me Pain
And Sai said "No"- He said "Pain lets you experience the sufferings of the others and
increases your fighting spirit."
I asked Sai to spare me suffering
No He Said, suffering draws you apart from worldly care,
it gives you strength to fight, it gives you a feeling of love, togethernes, humanity and
brings you closer to ME!"
I received nothing I wanted
I received everything I needed
My prayer has been answered.
