What does Jay mean as a totem?

Hi,

A few months ago, I had a bit of a health scare and at that time on two separate occasions a beautiful Jay made itself very apparent to me in my garden. I had never seen one before. I have had another scare in the last couple of days and this morning driving home, I once again saw a Jay. Now since they are pretty rare round here I found this strangely significant. Anyone any ideas on what the message might be?

Bright Blessings
Helen

I too have had birds come to me at significant times in my life:

A pair of ring necked pheasants as I was driving to the hospital to have my first child

A killdeer singing outside my window at midnight when I went into labor with my second child

A red tailed hawk has flown near me each time I've moved to a new location

Each time I've felt comforted, as if I was being assured that all would be well. :)

Otoharo!

Helen, Lazaris spent a lot of time with us, in recognizing Goddess when she appeared in our lives in such situations as that you mention. Lazaris is dedicated to bringing Goddess to our attention. As she has reented our world after having been ousted for so many millenia.

Helen,

In Shamanism the totem Jay says this

Jay's Wisdom Includes:

Understanding how to use power wisely
Warning
Courage
Ability to check on future trouble spots

Hope this helps a bit.

Helen,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I know Jay primarily as a Trickster figure (as do a number of Native American Tribes).

- though not one of Coyote's favorite cronies

>:-}}

- Jay is also a guardian spirit for some (of course a good trickster can also take on other duties as well, including Guardian)

>:-}}

- though very chatty and noisy they typically are not taken as "messengers" as are Crow or Raven or even Owl

- some will also give weight to the direction from which the bird appears

- hope this helps

Reiki all around,

all blessings,

Firekeeper

Thank you everybody for Jay replies

Hi Helen,

You seem to have got the idea to associate Jay with the health scare you've had and what it may be trying to help you with. Look also for any other animals crossing your path around the same time which make you 'take notice', and, the order they 'appear' to you. Then, it's possible to use your intuition to 'know' or 'understand' what they are telling/showing you.

It's possible to work with the animal spirits every day, in everything we do in our lives.

Enjoy the animals, 'listen' and you will hear!
much love
