A friend who is just discovering the whole idea of spirituality and spirit guide communication just asked me about austism. Does anyone have any ideas on the karma of autism or any websites discussing autism and metaphysics?
Thought it was a brilliant question for a beginner!!!

Hello intheflow,
I think websights looking at Crystal Children may be of help to you in exploring this topic on a metaphysical level. From what I have read on this topic many see those with autism as being part of that wave of New Children that are coming. As someone who has a nonverbal-learning disability, which is basicly a form of autism I will say that I do not always agree with all that metaphysics has to say on the topic, including necessarily what I just wrote, but always love talking about it.
Love and Light,
shauna

If you wish to read an amazing true story about a child with autism and links with beyond, find a copy of a book called "Child of Eternity" by A. Rocha and K. Jorde.
It is a beautiful experience to share.
It moved me deeply and opened my eyes even more...

I've seen in mentioned that people with autism are living mentally in other planes of existence. They are percieving many things except what is around them in the way that we know them.
Now this is one of those things where I have to say it's a possibility that I don't entirely dismiss. But at the same time I notice alot of times some folks will give a metaphysical reason for everything when the reality is probably that there is a more "real" problem. That doesn't mean there isn't some spiritual reason this is a part of someone's life.

intheflow,
Hi.
I would tend to agree with Dave. I have a little trouble with the idea that the autisitc are OK on some other "plane" at the same time they certainly seem to "suffer" in this life; on this plane.
As for the Karmic implications? It strikes me from any number of Teachings that there is not a 1:1 relatonship between that which we did or do and the Karma that accumulates. It is also taught, though not widely it seems, that some Karma may "combine" in unusual and unpredictable ways - this is why someone may die very early in life (within hours or weeks of birth) and attain enlightenment while others who 'serve' for decades are 'fated' for the next incarnation.
Cheers,
RC

I once read an article by a psychologist who used energy work in her practice with autistic children. She apparently was an intuitive. Her perception was that many of these children were reincarnated soldiers killed in WWII, and that many of them had been so traumatized in that lifetime, that they did not totally accept this incarnation, and so live partly "in another world." I believe this was in the Chicago Tribune about 5 years ago. It was fascinating to read, but only one person's perception.
Many ideas abound.
