Is anyone familiar with this "quantum touch" thing? I read it's supposed to increase Reiki energy.....

Otoharo!

My dear, there is no such thing as increasing reiki energy. There is only clearing oneself in order that reiki can squeak there. The more open you are to reiki the more you will FEEL reiki. The whole of the energy is available to you at all times.

I recently picked up (but have not yet finished) Gordon's book. It contains simple exercises for moving energy and appears to use earth chi for healing, a different modality altogether than Reiki.

I tried it on a friend with an old hip surgery and got better results than with Reiki or myofascial release.

Hi, I've studied and used quantum touch with Reiki for the past two years. I got better results immediately when I started using it, and I'm quite sure of it. I've taken workshops with Richard Gordan and advanced workshops with Alain Herriot who is an excellent teacher. I don't think it is actually different then Reiki energy. It is the same however attention to breath and movement of energy is added. When I first studied reiki I naturally did the same breathing as taught in Quantum Touch however my teacher emphasized my "putting my self on a shelf" and just letting it flow. I feel as though I'm assisting the flow with my breath with the Quantum Touch techniques. Also before quantum touch I would get ill from giving Reiki and once I incorporated the breath the energy moved in and out better and I never again picked up any ills. It seems that people are quite strong on their convictions here at the Reiki cafe but QT is something I'm sure of. I think you can add the breath and still keep yourself on the shelf if you know what I mean.

I have read the book, attended a two day workshop and have applied QT alone as well as with different Reiki modalities.

It seems to work in all cases, although it becomes a bit difficult focusing on a reiki modality while you are trying to use QT technique as well.

In general, QT certainly works with frequencies that seem to affect the 'physical' rapidly.

I personally have not tried it on 'emotional' or subtler levels of individuality, so can not comment.

In advance QT, one is taught to utilize chakra energy, and visualisation of energy vortices etc. I believe that is where a sort of overlap with other energy healing modalities begins, however QT still seems to retain its identity as practitioner is continuously breathing and visualising in a particular manner to channel the energy, while in reiki etc., practitioner simply 'lets it happen'.

hope this helps.

love and peace,
Harsh

FK,

My experience with QT is much more limited than that of some of the other practitioners here, and I tend to eschew theorizing. Having said that...

I suspect that entrainment with what might be termed the Gaia field is key and might be critical to the physical benefits mentioned by Choprah.

- so, you are not going to "theorize" as to whether your friend responded better to you (that you, as practitioner, were the key factor) or was better able to use the energy to his\her own benefit (that it was is\was largely a Recipient factor)??

Orinschild, I agree with your last statement, that you can use the breath and have your self out of the way at the same time.

FK,

In all three cases where I applied a modality, the recipient was asked only to relax. She is by nature and study energy sensitive.

However...I am quite willing to entertain another hypothesis, i.e., that the non-effect of the Reiki was due to limitations on the part of the practitioner.

Hi Harsh,
While doing reiki I have used a technique of breathing or blowing the energy into the persons chakra or area of need. I have had a wonderful response to this. When you speak of breathing with QT is it similar? I know nothing of QT but sounds like I will be using my Barnes and Noble gift card soon!

Hello Tracey,

Yes it is similar with some differences. In QT you inhale to 'draw' the energy (various visualisation/focussing techniques) and exhale to 'blow' the energy through your palms, while hands are on the 'affected' area in hands-on treatment.

Similar exercise during distant healing, except with visualisation of the 'recipient' in your cupped hands.

:) the book will give you much more details, though.

with love and peace,
Harsh

What I have done is breath in, sort of thru my eye lids if that makes sense, filling myself with energy, then blowing the energy, visualizing the light filling the space affected.

Yup! I'll be shopping for that book.

hi changeme,

i've taken two qt workshops and have applied it in specific cases, working slowly towards full practitioner status.

in my experience, the energy flow pathway of qt 'feels' different in the body than that of reiki. qt likes to refer to itself as a turbo-charged energy therapy -- basics can be taught in 10 minutes -- but it's not reiki, which requires an attunement and training that places much more emphasis on both intent, and non-attachment to specific recipient outcomes. i felt that the energy i was running for qt was active in a different way, and in different areas than the way reiki flows through/around my body. it felt different around my head, in particular, and the quality of the vibrational 'buzz', is different for both -- wish i could provide more concrete detail but am still trying to figure it out myself. if one uses a liquid metaphor, reiki flowed, whereas qt energy rushed -- a stream compared to a rushing brook -- how can one say one was 'better' or 'stronger' or more 'healing' than another? (is qt simply more like aerated water? we see how this metaphor can get 'bogged-down'! :) ). however, as choprah and i think isis mention, qt does have a strong emphasis on, and gets excellent results with physical, especially bone and tissue structural problems.

as i understand and practice it, qt practitioners, through their intent, breath and application, raise their own vibrational frequency to a level where healing and other energy transformations can take place more easily. the hands-on application of the energy raises the vibrational frequency of the recipient to that level, where they choose to use the energy to heal themselves. qt is also described as 'boosting' the immune system to facilitate healing. for the latter reason, qt energy can be used on almost anyone or anything except for those with immunodeficiencies, including transplant survivors (who take immunosuppressants to forestall rejection).

for me, reiki is a highly intuitive practice that involves constant listening -- to the recipient's verbal and non-verbal communication, to the flow of energy, to the feel/flow of the recipient's energy. qt can be similar, yet since focus of sessions is often pinpointed on a defined physical problem, and breathing technique, a practitioner's inner listening experience is quite different, not as broad an attention.

additionally, the attention of the recipient in qt is also narrowed due to the frequent specificity of the treatment -- say, a knee -- so this can be interesting in terms of the recipient's participation in their own healing/resistance to healing. they are also asked to report where the pain is in their body, as often the original pain starts to shift once qt starts, and that necessary participation seems to me a good way to involve them as conscious participants in their own healing. this consciousness seems highly beneficial to me, if the session is going to include dramatic results, such as a re-alignment of the spine, for example.

so qt is not "turbo-charged" or "boosted" reiki... but it is a separate energy healing practice.

namaste,
lunarreikin
