Hi Folks,
I just seem to be in a rut these days. I think I'm still emotionally drained from the overwork during the Christmas rush. I know I'm not depressed, just have a feeling of being very dull. I know it will pass. Does anyone have any solutions? What do you folks do when you feel this way?
Blessings,
Roxy

roxy,
Hi.
Could it be some minor infection? There are all sorts of cruds going around - including some sort of bug that runs about 7-10 dyas and while one does not really get sick one feels "drained" and sort of half-a-bubble off
Lots of Reiki to Thymus.
Cheers (with chicken soup)

Hey Roxy!
Someone in England predicted the 24th would be the most depressing etc. day of the entire year due to a formula they used for calculation. After all of the holiday parties, shopping, hoopla and then in January in comes the bills and the let down from all of the festivities and add on to that living up North the Winter miseries, darkness and being more inside all of the time.
You might contact friends and do something fun together.
Eat and drink some comfort type things.
Maybe a new hairdo or color for a nice change in yourself, that works for me.
Do some special things for yourself, some pampering as you seem to always be doing so much for others.
Use some uplifting oils such as Orange or Lemon or even use candles with similar fragrances. They do work.
Keep blinds open or a light on when it is dark and cloudy outside.
You do want to take some action to get out of a little rut before it becomes a really big one.
You go girl!

Hi Deer (LOL)
I think it has a lot to do with the time of the year.
I seem to remember that between the winter solstice and the Spring Equinox, was in days long past the time of the greatest
mortality rates.
Getting out helps (when it isn't snowing or raining) Walks in the winter sun really help, so does eating as much fresh fruit and veg that your system can take. ( I had salad today along with a nip of scotch, and I feel a lot happier, mind you that could just be the scotch LOL).
Come the longer warmer days you will be fine. (Beta Carotone keeps coming to mind)
Namaste
Rob

Otoharo!
Roxy, several years ago, I shared with my group how I had been feeling so down and in such a state of need. She said, there is never a need. All our needs are met. There is no such thing as need.
Well, I was flabbergasted, as I had lived my life with the idea of meetting my own needs.
Eventually, I realized all that was required of me was to open myself. That is when I caught on to this thing of giving up gratitude to the Source, and automatically I am filled by the Source, instantly. That is why there is no need. There is only our becoming aware of how simply it is to be grateful at all times and at all times we are being filled to our capacity.

Dear Roxy,
Sunshine...water...sleep..
Hang out with pets or animals, visit zoo or shelter..
Go through closets & donate stuff to charity
watch a comedy that cracks you up.
Put music on & try to dance like you're John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever ( if you can do that without laughing...WHOA!!)
Smile at people for no reason all day, sounds silly but it works, the looks are priceless & you WILL make some people happy.
Go somewhere you have never been before.
Vit B complex?
peace & joy,
holobon

RoxyHoney,
Sorry to hear you're feeling crummy. There've been some awesome suggestions in response to this post. Hope you can take something from them.
The one which speaks load and clear to me is the drumming.
Go for it!
<hugs>

Thank you all for your suggestions, I will keep them in mind next time this happens....as undoubtedly it will. That's just life. For now, though, I think the Curmudgeon hit the nail on the head...since I'm off from work today, and have had a chance to slow down, I realize I have the symptoms of mild cold. So I'm going to bundle up, drink tea...
Blessings,
Roxy

Hi Roxy! I know my reply may be a little late but I have to share!
I, too, have been in a funk lately. Something that hardly ever happens to me. Tis the season, me thinks.
And last night I had a dream that I had this thick, grease like substance on the top of my head and I spent the extent of the dream trying to get to a shower to wash my hair. Upon awakening from this dream, an immediate thought/suggestion popped into my head and it was - Reiki your crown chakra now. So I did.
Felt a lot better. Was peacefully falling back into that wonderful morning sleep when a voice told me to Reiki all of my chakras. I thought maybe it was just me putting that thought into my head but all of a sudden, someone/thing was ever so gently tapping me on the head. I immediately rolled over on my back and Reiki'ed the rest of my chakras!
Today, I have been my old happy self.
I will continue to do this whenever I feel the blues coming on. And I will use it on my clients as well. I do cover all chakras when doing a session but I will spend extra time and do them first before completing s session if the person is depressed or sad.
Try it and let me know how it feels.

HI Roxy
If you are in a rut, remember, that is the path of a wheel....
if it's a part of your own wheel..... relax and enjoy for now....just cruise...
if it's a rut caused by someone else...then you had better move out the way before another one of those darn big moving circle thingies comes along and flattens you!
(Just the way I see things from my own ruts and trenches!)
I am finding that of late, especially the end of last year and since (especially with the mass passing of souls due to the tsunami tragedy) the whole world is kind of in a waiting mode, or rut. Everyone I talk to feels this great sense of heaviness or stuckness, or something uncomfortable.
I too have felt it.
You know what happened. Suddenly out of nowhere, something simple and beautiful, like a family of blue wrens in my garden, hauled me back into the moment and showed me the incredible beauty of life.
From my rut, I looked out and thought.....wow....my interest, my thoughts and my focus shifted....and in the appreciation of a simple experience and the connection with my winged friends, my spirit kinda became unstuck.
I was wondering what the connection was.....for some reason, I had a baby wattle bird, appear in my back yard a month ago, then these wrens hatched out their babies and they kept playing with me (even had one fly down and sit on my hand!!!), then there was a robin (who came close so I reached out and he pecked me!!!!!), now two young brown owls are in my garden daily, singing at dusk, sharing some message......I questioned what was going on with this sudden rush of winged ones into my company.
Voila!
They have just helped me climb out of my own rut and given me the inspiration to unleash the wings a bit, again....
Just my thought for the day!
Wish I could share all the amazing photos I have of these new friends!!!!
Cheers
Sunshiine
