Perhaps you math whizzes out there might explain this to me. I attended a lecture Saturday that referenced the golden section, Fibonacci numbers, etc. Head was spinning although I think I got the overall concept he was trying to convey ( we are all connected as evidenced by the mathmetical relationships & sequences in our bodies, DNA, chemistry etc & these sequences are also replicated in nature, architecture, art, etc. But Im not sure I understand what the golden section actually is apart from a relationship of the length to width of a rectangle. Searching the net has me cross eyed. Anyone with any input?
peace & joy,
holobon

Hi Holobon
Through the golden spiral, all geometry transcends form and moves into quantum fluidity.
LOL
I will e mail you some links, which may be helpful.

my dearest holobon-bon,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- the golden section derives from Fibonacci's original question: how rapidly will a pair of rabbits multiply under ideal conditions
- so, it seems that the golden section is 'rooted' in sex
>:-}}
- so, the golden section is one of the terms used by some interchangeabley with the "golden ratio" and the the "golden mean" or "divine proportion"
- what is divine about it I am not sure. Some say because it 'occurs' in nature. Well, much occurs in nature and not all of is is routinely referred to as divine.
>:-}}
- however, elsewhere it is stated that: "The golden section is a line segment divided into two parts. Point C is positioned such that the ratio of the short half to the long half is equal to the ratio of the long half to the whole."
- hope this helps

Dear Firekeeper,
Thats it!!. I was looking for an explanation of what the ratio is. Pheew,my brain can stop spasming now. Thank you, oh wise one. And thank everyone else, I will be following up on your advice.
Perhaps discovering that there is a "method" to the makeup of all things prompts the scientific to see a hand that is not random, hence the divine phrase?
I would think that a coyote would see multiplication of rabbits ad infinitum as a divine opportunity! :)
peace & joy,
holobon

Hi Holobon
LOL
It would seem that the brain can spontaneosly combast from all of this, but it won't LOL
It was explained to me like this(golden ratio/golden section etc) "You do understand it, because it is part of you" Now at first that made no sense and to a very great degree I still don't totally get the golden ratio/golden section, but it all does seem familiar. The last time I sat in circle was not long after I had been working with PI (getting ready for an exam) The numbers came tumbling in, then the shapes. All I was getting was data. Everyone else in circle was getting a vision of something future, but my role that night was to tie what they were seeing up, Link it and put it in to context. It was felt that what I had actually got that evening was the tools to do that. Ok that is on one level, the other level to look at with golden ratio/golden section, is that it is all that is. Everything appears to follow the formula, including us, so we are part of it.
Now when you look at everything like that, the bigger picture can appear, if you can step outside of over intelectulising it (I Must practice that more LOL).
I hope you have fun with it.

Otoharo!
Holobon, I can not join in this discussion, but I have discovered that we are literally everything that is. I cna not explain this. As you learn what you are exploring, you will eventually (if not immediately) become aware that you are it. It is all in you. "This is me" begins to make since.
