Hi,
Does anyone else find those e-mails that get forwarded on predicting luck if you forward it on to as many as possible or in one particular case extremely bad luck if you don't, disconcerting? They seem to be the electronic version of chain letters and whilst I never forward them on, it always leaves me with a vague sense of unease about the bad luck that I might be incurring by pressing the delete key :(
Why do people feel the need to start these things anyway? :/
Gentle Blessings
Helen

Helen,
I agree in that to me it does not matter one way or the other. I did not ask for it so I have no problem deleting it.
I think someone would have to set an awful lot of intention to bring on so much bad luck for so many people don't you?
For me, I don't do negative, it's a waste of energy.
If you know the person who sends you a chain letter then I suggest you ask them directly why they sent it and what they get out of it.

Hi Helen,
If I liked the story or sentiment I used to delete all that 'send to x people for luck and if you don't send the wrath of the universe will fall on you' stuff and forward it to people.
One time being in a hurry I simply forwarded the whole thing. The letters I got from people were eye opening, ranging from 'why are you sending this crap?' to one I got that went on for pages saying that I had caused all these disasters and crises' in the persons life and telling me not to send them anything like that again.
Had I done my normal 'delete' I would have gotten back things like, 'how nice', 'so true', 'great story' etc. No one focused on the story but everyone focused on the so called warnings and predictions of catastrophy.
I replied to most of them that they generally get these things with all the 'extra stuff' deleted and why were they upset over it anyway, were they superstitious, did they really think that bad things were going to happen to them now? The lady that thought I caused all her ills? I deleted her email address from my list and haven't corresponded with her in years.
No moral, just a story.
:-))

I myself simply forward them only if I feel that they either are fun and for a laugh or the hit a spot inside

I just delete then, unless they are funny.
I do think of them as spam these days. Also it is a very quick way of having your email address picked up by spammers or worse still some one who has a virus on thier machine that scans for email adresses, because invaribably the whole history of who it has been sent to, including e mail addresses is there.

Hi Rob,
Good point. Trouble is they usually come from people I know so much of the time I'm not sure if it is one of these 'chain letters' or something else. I have a friend who simply deletes anything from anyone that has been forwarded.
They are pretty much on my spam list too. They just take up too much time.
Can't say I'm immune to viruses but I do use a mac and have system X but I could pass one on to a friend w/a PC so it is just better to be careful and not send them on.

Otoharo!
I do not receive these at all. Last year, or some time previous to now, I was recieving all kinds of unwanted stuff. I read in Consumer report magazine how to eliminate unwanted emails. That was simply to change your email address. I did that, and though I had to inform my friends and relatives my new address, the spam never has caught up with me again.

Helen,
Hi.
One could always just send it back where it came from with a "virus alert" note attached.
LOL
Cheers (no spam on top, please),
