The Reiki Cafe 

My daily work with horses brings me to this subject,over a period of time I have begun to experience a spiritual connection with this wonderfull animal.
The experience I am refering to is the special look that I am given with direct eye to eye contact with the horse, it may last for only a second but if I am lucky it sometimes lasts for 10 or 15 seconds.

The deep brown eye seems to looks into the very soul to such an extent that my inner soul wants to cry, has anyone else had this experience with any other type of animal.

Dear Healinghorses,
As a child I was more in tune with dogs then I am now. Ive lost the openess of a child, a child for whom there are no limits of wonder in the world. Perhaps when we lose the cloak of maturity for a moment and the animal is willing, something primordial passes between us.
I wonder how often animals try to communicate in their own way & we just dont get it. Even with my own dog after all these years together, I misread her cues and often Im really not listening. But there are those times when she seems to read my mind and I hers. :)

this is true in the 'language' between us & animals (& birds),
sometimes I feel my dog looking at me, & I then look at him, & instantly we connect,& I know what he wants, (I am sure this boy knows at least 50 'human' words!), which don't always have to be even spoken sometimes! mind you I think I know 50 doggy words also!!!
birds also, as I know when they are in our tree's if they want some seed, it's a different whistle, they have at least 10 different sounds that 'I' know, one for fear, calling another bird, warning another bird,in distress etc.
we are so truly blessed , we must find 'TIME' to listen to 'ALL', not just people.
this even goes beyound that into the world of plants, they tell us when they are in distress etc. one can FEEL it

Wendy, you reminded me of my bird story. I was living in the south, had a large yard fensed in. I watched out the windows and doors as I was recuperating from a broken pelvis. On the watercooler evaporator which stuck out from a south window, there was room to feed birds and I could watch them through the window. This went on for some days. Then I was alerted by these cardinals outside the screen door which was beside the window. They called an alarm call that I picked up and went to see what they could be alarmed about. They flew off just a bit as if inviting me to follow, so I did. On the side of the house, was a cat! I chased the cat away and all settled down again. That experience made me feel good, that I could pick up their language so easily. And that they knew where I was and that I would help them!

Many thanks for you detailed reply I am sure you are correct in everything you say, lost skills on this demension are very difficult to retrieve in a world that should in my opinion, listen more to nature itself as nature has the power to destroy as well as to please.

If we live in peace with nature it will look after us in turn.

Dear Healinghorses,

Several situations in the past two weeks have brought my attention to how we treat nature. For the first time I watched the animated movie, Fantastic Planet. It made me feel what it must be like to be a smaller more helpless species, misunderstood & under appreciated. Actually it shook me quite a bit, although I have had thoughts & discussions in this vein, I never really "felt" it as much as I did watching this movie. It has made me rethink the whole concept of pets.
Then I read a submission to the editor of a magazine & this fellow stated that nature had no intrinsic value apart from what it could do for humans. I was repulsed by the coldness and disconnection & shocked that anyone could think like this. But maybe that is the core value underneath many of our concepts and actions. There is a quote from a native american that in part says that man's heart grows hard when away from nature. We have lost respect for nature if indeed we ever had it. I do not know what the answer is but I have to believe that even short bursts of connection between us & other forms of life is helpful.

Many thanks for your mail, it's good to hear from someone who practices Reiki on our equine friends.

When I first started giving Reiki to horses I never thought that I would experience anything like what has evolved over the years.

A lot of horse people are still very suspicious of Reiki so my first approach to the problem here in Spain, was to try and convince some of the Vets that visit our yard that Reiki really works to benifit our equine friends.

After a long period of time I can now say that I have been accepted by some of the leading Vets in Spain and have had the pleasure to work along side one of the leading surgeons whilst he was carrying operative work on a particular horse.

I have the pictures of the work that has been carried out and the final result is amazing, its very hard to tell were the opperative work has actually been carried out.

I aimed for a no marking of the horses coat, due to the incissions that had to be made we fully expected white markings at least to appear after healing had taken place.

Now its hard to tell were the incissions were made.
Hope I am not boring you I have many other cases at hand.
