Tracey,
/*\ Namaste :-}]
- you could start with the foundation for shamnaic studies - they have a full curriculum of shamanic technique and counseling courses - some of the teachers may also know "individuals" who might take on a student or apprentice
- I have personal experience with some of the foundation faculty (mostly by way of foundation training) and several of those I would rate highly - if you are interested in names I can E-mail you
- there are also individuals who advertise themselves as shamans on the internet but I would say chossing from this venue is somewhat more risky

Hi Tracey,
I took a summer course with a Shaman through the university close to where I live. Problem was he was really into the money and did the "going to South America Peru thing" which did not attract me. He was also not Native American as that seems to be the case alot nowadays and he did advertise. He did seem legitimate however as he was Cuban and their ancestory and DNA already would most likely make that more plausible and due to his experiences.
It's good to trust your intuition and get references. My 2 cents for what it's worth from someone who has studied under several so called shamans and am glad I took them on some level with the proverbial grain of salt.
good luck,
Prosperity

Good Morning,
I am very slow in choosing my teachers for just that reason. I must feel safe with them and have a trust that comes from somewhere deeper.
Thank you,
Tracey
