Pain with acupuncture

A puzzling effect is happening with Sandy's (Mom in-law) acupuncture. She has only had 2 for chemo related neuropathy. The problem is that it is very painful for her. Is this normal? It is so painful that she wants to stop.

I understand that energy blocks can cause some discomfort but it should subside, no?

Thanks,
Tracey

Otoharo!

I can't answer your question. My experience with acupuncture was all so beneficial and no pain to it. I had regular treatments for over a year before coming to the northwest and finding reiki.

hi, you say this lady has had chemo:?
she must have suffered either a lot of pain before chemo, or nerve pain after it...
it's really false when people say "the 'more pain' you have had you get 'used' to pain" this is not so!....it's the other way round, (you don't build up a tolerance for pain,) you get more sensertive to it..... some small things can cause you really 'more' pain.....you body seems to scream out "I have had enough"...
I would see a different acupuncturist, this one is not the right one for this lady, Worth a try....there are a few other ways of doing acupuncture.
hope this helps some, luv wendy xxx

Thank you, Wendy. Yes, she has been undergoing chemo for a year now and this recent round is experimental. Has caused alot of fatigue and terrible neuropathy in hands and feet. She was told acupunture might help with the neuropathy, which it has, but she was almost crying on the phone saying she could not take the pain of another round acupuncture.

I think adding to the problem is emotional overload. After a year she just needs a break.

I know I have had a sore spot where I had a block but the pain was only upon insertion of the needle then it went away. Sandy is Saying the pain stays during the whole treatment.

Thanks for your input,
Tracey

Tracey,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- yes, hyper-sensitivity can develop and with a neuropathy the variables can be even more perplexing (and irritating)

- since no on is forcing her to have accupuncture a treatment vacation may be quite helpful
