Hello!
Looking for a place to get warm and dose up on Vitamin D!
Anyone know of places perhaps in South Florida or not too far away from the states where there are nice beaches BUT not too commercial..........perhaps even some good spiritual vibes?
Thanks!
Feather

Dear Feather,
There are some beautiful white sand beaches on the northwest & central west coast of Florida near smaller towns. Try contacting a travel agent or if you belong to an auto club like AAA they can give you suggestions. I hate to give advice re vacations as everyone has different priorities but do plan it around hurricane season! :)
peace & joy,
holobon

Hi Feather,
(I've changed my user id as the protocol seems to be tags not names on this group!) Well, it's a bit more expensive, I must admit! But plenty of sunshine on the sundeck of the Nile cruise ship though, and a pluge pool! Plus some amazing site seeing and fantastic hotels. Plus loads of Reiki gatherings throughout. Hope you find something anyway.
Best wishes,
Louise.

Feather,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- swimming in the Nile is probably not recommended (Nile crocs are sacred but no less dangerous)
- and, I suspect that in an arabic country the swim-wear for women will be rather different than in "West" if you want to get wet on the Mediterranean side

Well, as my goal is to bare as much of my skin as possible and appropriate, perhaps that part of the world would best be avoided! LOL

feather,
check out mexico yucatan peninsula along the gulf
The largest city is Merida which is about 30 minutes from the coast and you get the bonus of some of the smaller pyramids in the area as well. There are small towns along the coast where you can probably find lodgings if you want to stay on the beach.
There are flights from miami to merida.
If this interests you email me and I will give you some sites to check out
Be prepared though, Mexico is a completely different mind set and can be very frustrating at times.

rebecca,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- good to see you at The Cafe
>:-}}
- I trust you are well
- I might wonder how much recovery from the last hurricane that hit the Yucatan recently still needs to be done??
- though, there might be some lodging bargains just to get folks to come in

Hello there,
Yes, well, thank you but it has been a very strange trip lately.
:-)
That side of the Yucatan had very little damage. We did have to postpone a planned trip in early Nov because we were flying into Cancun and taking the bus to Merida, if it hadn't been for that we would have had no problems.
Cancun is either totally open for business or is limping along depending on who you listen to but I expect that it is somewhere in between. (not my cup of tea at any rate though I do hope for the sake of the locals and their economy that it recovers quickly)

I am sure they would be! Just unfortunately not appropriate for my budget!
