Hello Friends,
I'm trying to complement my meditation with keeping my awareness in the present moment. It's not very easy, especially if the moment doesn't happen to be a very pleasant one. Has anyone here tried this? Any suggestions?
Best wishes,
Roxy

Ms. Roxy,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- if you 'stay on the breath' you are in each moment
- each breath is neither good nor bad so cannot be pleasant or unpleasant
- each breath simply sustains life (and gives a focus for mindfulness meditation - (bagl)

Otoharo!
Roxy, I am confused by your word choices. Meditation can not occur except in the now. You can not meditate then, or yesterday, or soon, one can only meditate now, this moment. So I am not sure of your question. I recognize FK's explanation of breath work. that works because one can not breath a breath now that occured awhile ago. Breathing only occurs now. In this moment. Perhaps what you are meaning is that you are keeping your mind from wandering. I have found it is much easier to let the mind alone and keep oneself elsewhere than in the mind. When no one is noticing the mind, it quietens and becomes still by itself.
For this reason, i use the technique of hearing the chatter going on UP THERE, as I descend in my elevator and stay down here. Soon I hear no chatter going on. And I had to do nothing to it.
