Dear Roxy,
I choose not to believe that...not to deny that the idea is possible or probable but to let other possibilities exist in my heart & spirit. If I go down that path, there is little room for hope in my heart. What we think & believe affects not only the self but those around us. We have to work at getting to the point where the thought of peace is possible....always possible! So, think peace even when it seems impossible. Each one of us contributes toward peace or to the opposite. Chaos may be part of life, but we have to focus beyond that. It does start with us. Giving up will surely project us down a slippery slope.
When Jesus talked about turning the other cheek, I think he meant not to respond in like to aggression, to stop the natural inclination to respond in kind,to give the other a second chance & maybe to just "see" the situation in a different light. Sometimes we have to defend ourselves against an aggressor and there is no time for thinking. But much of the time, we are not focusing on a peaceful solution, we dont believe it is possible.
No one can say what will happen but we choose where our thoughts will go. I dont believe in putting on rose colored glasses but we have to stick to our hopes & ideals. Never give up & when you do, hopefully, someone else will be there to pick you up. Thats why we have to stick together now & believe in peace.
