In a bit of a huff!

Oh holy thou art! 'rasbarry', I'm sick of people poo pooing religon just because it doesn't measure up to their expectations! What a load of crock. If you believe strongly enough about it, you don't need to scream from the roof tops and try and convince others that religion is 'bad' and an alternative view is 'good'live and let live, and for god's sack shut up.
If I believe strongly enough in a subject, doesn't matter what, and if I go around preaching that my alternative view is better than the bullshit that the other is spewing, I'm no better than they are. I come across as a pretentious plick, pendantic and otherwise.
But hey! I've just done what I've just described, What Does That Make Me!

I apologise if I've ruffled any feathers, I needed to say that, Phew! There is healing in this gig.
p.s. We're all in a state of growth, religons et all..
Apologies and blessings all round.

jaguar,

Hi,

I agree. Bashing has no place here and it is not well tolerated by the administrators of the site (to whom one may complain if one feels a Post is offensive).

But, to simply post one's own views is not at all the same as 'bashing' someone else's views. However, to interpret the presentation of an alternate view in a discussion (without saying it is better than some other view) as bashing perhaps suggests some oversensitivity that might need looking at.

Cheers,

RC

Dear Jaguar,
Bashers may enjoy getting you or me riled up or may have issues themselves. Others may just be trying to open eyes to other "possibilities". There are those individuals who are simply sharing their opinions. Emotions can get caught in the mix and in interpretation of posts.
In all honesty, some of the best learning here, for me, has involved a challenge to my beliefs. But no one changes my beliefs unless I am open to change.
The only thing we ever control is our response to what we experience. In a free society we have to listen to a good deal of baloney & it comes with the territory. A favorite quote of mine from Abraham Lincoln: "those who deny freedom to others deserve it not themselves".
What is baloney to one is filet mignon to another! :)

peace & joy,

I feel a bit bruised, since I bash myself and my own beliefs quite regularly. At the mo I'm feeling quite oversensitive, and so I have decided not to give in to getting into an argument about something because quite frankly, I don't have the energy. Consequently I'm letting go of a lot of stuff, and i'm stopping to read books on others opinions that don't correspond with my own. I hope I'm not to militant about this, but I need a rest. I value others opinions when they themselves value them, but when it comes to pushing them onto others, I don't have the time anymore. So it's time to take stock and stop.
