expressions that drive me crazy

Dear Ones,
I love this website. The one thing I like is I do not hear expressions like "with God's help I can do good" which drive me nuts. I have some X-tian fundamentalists in my family who are just mean and nasty as can be yet use these kind of expressions. Why they bother me so much I do not really know. Any comments please.

Perhaps it's the hipocracy of your familial situation. : )
Honestly. I feel the same way a good portion of the time. Certain phrases such as that are irritants for me as well.

As mentioned before i have a sore spot when it comes to christianity. And with damn good reason.

I think the other thing that bothers me is that the Divine however we understand it has already given us the tools we need to handle our problems.

Maybe you should tell them 'God helps those who help themselves' :-))

I know what you mean though there are a lot of sayings both Christian and non-Christian that drive me nuts. Many of them are nothing more than double speak. Especially some of the new age favorites.

Got this in my mail this morning and it really made me chuckle, so next time you hear one of those irritating little ditties maybe you could remember this and just smile

"REMEMBER SOME PEOPLE ARE ALIVE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHOOT THEM."

:-))

Firekeeper,

Not exactly a 'smart pill' is it?

:-)

Improving short term memory and alertness doesn't equal smart in my book. But hey, what do I know, I always thought 2+2 was 22.

:-)

I think my light has a short.

- ahhhh, I believe that source suggested that 2 + 2 = 5 for large values of 2

- the same source has observed that 7 out of 5 people are math challenged

bagl

- of course if 2 + 2 = 22 then those would be for super-super-sized values of 2 (2 on a galactic scale - bagl)

I have no prob with people coming out with trite phrases(to some) like whatever. can't think of one of hand. when they mean it, and are not condescending about it. Sometimes they want to believe.
Someone once said, that people are stupid, they believe what they want to believe. Another said that the world is what we think it is, but thats not necessarily in the same in anothers eyes.
We all have hang-ups, I had one about the goddess and all that, it drives me nuts like, relase the goddess within you(trite)So I understand where you stand in my eyes.
Also thought that 2+2=5-1
ever hear of xto the power of n, or the nth degree.
wonder is reiki like that.

"Reiki cannot do any harm." Somebody once heard it from somebody, who heard it from somebody, who heard it from somebody else, so now it's dogma. And if it does in fact cause some harm? Well, it must not REALLY be harm; it must somehow be good, from the perspective of the highest good -- because, after all, reiki can't do any harm. Yes, that's the way dogma works.

or 'one can't tell the beauty of a gemstone by looking at only one of its' facets'
But I like this one. My lecturer on gems once told me that when someone came in with an odd inclusion, which to smome would be a flaw, said to them that it was one of natures fingerprints. an so therfore unique.
The same goes for people I think, A flaw in their make-up shouldn't be emphasised, rather the flaw itself should only emphasise the true natural beauty surronding it. beauty comes in all guises, sometimes it takes a flaw to appreciate it.
Like my spelling.

And also, "high frequency." Do people who insist that the energy going through them is at a higher frequency than other energy realize that frequency refers to cycles per second? And that it doesn't mean the strength of the energy? Amplitude and intensity (which varies as the square of the amplitude) determine the strength of the energy. Research results suggest that different frequencies are good for treating different types of tissue. If high frequency were always better than low frequency, then blue light would always be better than red light, a piano's middle G would always be better than middle C, etc.

Thank you, Bruce...

I never heard anyone use the term "high frequency", but I was really interested in your explanation of energy. Thanks for teaching me something new.

...Reminds me of when I was listening to one of George Carlins videos and he says the expression "what a novel concept" drives him nuts or something to that effect. The person I was watching the video with always used to say that which made me chuckle even though it doesn't bother me, I've noticed I never hear that phrase anymore from this person. I've enjoyed reading all the posts!

Dear Prosperity,

In the realm of fundamentalism the one that burns my arse is when they proclaim their printed version of the bible as "The Word of God !!". Like their version is the real one reprinted from the spiral notebook binders that fell from Jesus's own backpack. Yeah, right.

I also like the one, 'higher vibration' which I guess they are using in place of frequency.

Different frequencies do have profound effects on tissue and healing. I've often beaten my drum, here and elsewhere to anyone who will listen, on the benefits of frequency specific micro current after having severe and surgical rotator cuff tears healed with it.

I also broke a toe last summer running with my god-children in the park. Bad nasty break it was too. (wearing inappropriate shoes of course :-) ran right out of them and got my toe caught and twisted in one of them as I fell). I went to my chiropractor the next day. I could hardly walk. She treated me with micro current and within 24 hours the swelling and bruising was gone. (the bruise covered about a third of my foot) All that was left was the slightest yellowing of bruising (that last little bit that usually takes a couple of weeks before you get there) I was salsa dancing again in two weeks. Try that on allopathic medicine.

:-)

Every once in awhile I get a little twinge but it was a toe after all and they seem to do that for a long time after healing. Anyway, thought I would add that, for what its worth.

:-)

Of course no allopathic doctor will believe me. :-))

Anybody that is interested can check the resources board and I will post some informational links on frequency specific micro current.
