Sudden loss

Otoharo!

I had sudden loss today that really shook me up! About four months ago I got a free kitten and have loved him for every cute, defiant, challenge he has thrown at me. A male cat does not meow and beg, he orders! He is mostly a house cat, but wants out off and on during the day, not staying out long. this afternoon my neighbor knocked and asked me to come out, he had something to show me, grabbing one of my shovels. we went down my driveway and there near my mailbox was my smokey lying where he had been knocked by a passing car.

I know all of you can relate to this. My life has been so thouroughly blessed, that this is the only loss I have had for so many long years. As a teenager, I mothered mother's last baby as she was ill for several years. I went away to college, and one day my aunt came in to see me to tell me that my little sister was dead.

The suddenness is hard, the jolt! Grief sort of smooths out the surface little by little.

Oh, finality, my heart breaks for your loss. When something or someone we love dies unexpectedly it shakes the very foundation of our lives. Especially when it is someone young.
That's the price we pay for loving. (Remember when the Tin Man said to Dorothy, "Now I know I have a heart, because it's breaking?") Love can hurt as well as heal, but heal we do, because we love.
May your kind spirit find peace, and may all the love you put out come back to you threefold.

Dearest Finality,

My heart goes out to you. Our family's beloved cat died in January and I still think about him everyday. May good memories of your Smokey help ease your grief as my memories comfort me.

With love,
Lesley

finality,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your kitty.

I know it can only take minutes to love one for the rest of your life and I know how hard it is to loose one too. I've lost several over my life and one was no easier than another.

On monday my daughter had to have her's 'put to sleep' (what a stupid euphemism) and we had a burial out by the pond. He was 14 and had terminal cancer, his life was becoming very painful and it was time but that makes it no easier. However we loose them, we loose them. Sudden or slow the pain is the same.

Wishing you strength and peace.

Walk in beauty,
Rebecca
