Greetings,
I'm trying to find a polite way to suggest to someone not to use vulgar names for body parts such as referring to breasts as t-ts etc., Am I being a prude. Often they are said in ways to be funny but I find them Jerry Springerish. Especially if the person after talking like that, starts the sprititual talk. It's funny in an ironic way.
thanks,
Peace,
Prosperity

Dear Prosperity,
I've never encountered the situation. That being said, I have a suggestion. How about, when this person says t-t, you say "You mean breast, don't you?". Maybe after a while, he'll get the hint.
Blessings,
Roxy

Dear Roxy,
It's interesting that you assume it is a male. Those dogs! (joking) The context of using slang and replacing it with breasts may not have the desired funny effect. For instance referring to a mammogram as a t-t sandwich and for me to say you mean breast? You could be right however. As this person is also a feminist. It's confusing to me and possibly ought to be taken with a grain of salt. Thanks for your post and offering me a chance to clarify. After all it seems to be the trivialites that get to me sometimes so I have to question that aspect of whether it is a triviality.
Peace,
Prosperity

Dear Prosperity,
Yes, I was wondering as I posted "he", whether I was assuming because of some stereotype.

prosperity,
Hi,
Schist happens! LOL So, call schist, schist and then let the chips fall where they may. Boors eventually sort themselves out and often end up pretty much alone.
Cheers,
RC

Dear Prosperity,
People who tend to use the cruder words for body parts may be uncomfortable with using more traditional ones. Many of us grew up in homes in which talking about sex organs in any manner was a no no & many learned to use slang on the sly . Or maybe its nervousness, shock value or...... :)
Reality TV,celebrity circus & JackAss cinema seem to have made the nitty gritty down in the dirt dumb and dumber life very popular.
My advice such as it is:Just ignore the talk and walk your walk. Accepting people as they are is never easy.
Those of us whose spiritual life is a struggle can sometimes be reached by exposure to positive role models. For those other die hard, hard core crudites, leave the !## kicking to the professionals!! Thats a joke, for any PC individuals in the audience :)
If it truly offends you Id just tell the person that the term bothers you, grates on your nerves, whatever you are comfortable with saying that doesnt point an accusing finger at the other person. That gives them the option of agreeing to make you more comfortable. Of course, for some people, making you uncomfortable is the whole schtick!
peace & joy,
holobon
