Hi , everyone, i am a chinese, so my english will not be that good.....sorry about that.....
Why is meditation mean to you all?
According to Buddha, Meditation is to change your heart, starting to change from your heart(and that's is what buddha called basic)
So, the ture about meditation is not about sitting or standing, is about changing from the basic....

Otoharo!
I agree.
I am entering a week of meditation to arrive at a place where I can leave my body so it can be used by another person for some teachings to come through. I am dedicated this day and the following week. I will let you know how I am progressing. It has begun!

according to the tradition of meditation, don't expect any power of anyway, or you heart will not be pure.....
I hope you will reach where you want to be , but it might just be part of meditation.......
so , I don't know , for this , no one is sure they are right or wrong...

Surely it's not the destination, but the journey?
For me at a time, meditation was a way to become calm. But I found to my chagrain that to be calm, you must become calm. And meditation was just a tool to do this. But you don't knead meditation to become this.
So now, meditation is a way.

You're so right, jaguar...it is the journey, but doesn't everyone want to go home?
For me....the best way of all.
Thank you, Hearth, for sharing such good words, starting such good threads....adding to our wonderfully golden web here at Nexus Cafe

I think home is the journey. Or we carry home with us, therefore, wherever or whenever we are, we're always home. The journey is the key to realising this, not just with the head but with the whole being.
But for now the journey is where we're at. The realisation that home is in the heart, not just in the words but in the knowing of this. We can never be lost.
I'm not home yet, even though I'm close. It probably take another while of wandering before this idea will become to pass.

When there's a time where things seems to be not important , then that is the time for you to go "home".....
Just like , when you were dreaming , you think that everything happen in the dream was true , but after you felt the real world , you will be able to wake up......
But , chances like this is very small.....
As you know , things , money , TV, games, radio........all this things seems to be very important, but after you felt the real world , you know this is just a "dream-like world".......
This world is not true , but is not fake too , is just like a dream, but this dream is real.......
So buddha taught his students, words can't tell you everything about "truth", but you can use words to help you go trought the "truth"....

Otoharo!
I notice you are saying "you" all the time as though you are teaching us. Is this rather what you have experienced that works for you?

Sorry , but this is the way how I talk......
Everything I said can be found in books of buddhist or tao......
So, is still something about us....
But , when you are reaching enlightenment, just before you can go beyond "yourself", it seems to be very hard......
Chinese used to say , there are people who can teach , but they might not be able to do it......
I know the way , but I have not reached that "state" ......
Once you nearly reached that "state", everything will be gone......Just work hard, is easy if you really can let-go.....but is very hard if you can't let-go

hearth-reiki
Rather than say you, say one, therefore in my mindl, one can mean me or many, and it is just the other one's understanding, they can take the leap of faith and substitute the one for themselvesl, or not; their choice.
It seems to me that people in the west don't like to be talked at. they seem to my mind to be rather given the choice of accepting the others opinion or not, rather than being told this is the way and accepet it, even if this is not said such, we might percieve it as such, and may take offence. It may be that people in the east, accept, because they have a better understanding of language and what is being said.
I don't know if I make sense. If not I apoligise.

ahhhhhh, jaguar, I've often said to my clients....this world could not exist without you seeing it....experiencing it...
I think you'd enjoy a sign that I had made for me hubby....
beautifully done by a third generation sign maker (it was his idea to put the Claddagh in the sign)
the words were mine....."My Love is Home"....your words touched me there....thank you so much. No matter how lost we may feel....."we can never be lost
