Hello All,

Can I ask as many people as possible to visit the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition website.

The plight of the Spirit Bear, an animal unique to the North West coast of Canada and of which only some 400 survive, is told there.

Please add your voices to the protest against the destruction of this animal's last surviving habitat in the name of short term financial gain.

Dear Brian,

I am a friend of the Bear as well. The private land camp where I stay in northern Wisconsin every other weekend we share with the Black Bear. We leave them (healty)treats and look for thier prints in the sand around our campsite with eager enthusiasm. I humbly wait for the upcoming day when they will honor me with a visit.

I guess I'm wondering about these 400 undescripted bears you speak of that have a lock on the bear totem spririt. Are they of a special order?

Thank you for the reply.

As I understand it, the Spirit Bear is a genetically unique sub-species of the Kermode Bear and is only found on the Pacific coast of Canada.

It is pure white and is NOT a polar bear.

The SBYC website gives a wealth of information about it.
