I'm curious to know why we don't hear more from our "newest users" and those on our "profiles" more??? I certainly hope that we (the ones who do all the talking) don't scare folks away!?! Take care. Love you all.

I was just reading, in a writeup about "wiki", that there's a 90-9-1 pattern, where 90 percent of members "lurk", 9 percent speak up occasionally, and 1 percent are regular contributors. There are apparently ways of improving the ratio, but the overall pattern fits with a lot of human group endeavors.

Consider that posting your words on the Internet is a form of public speaking, and then consider the statistics on fear of public speaking.

Might be worth considering ways of encouraging the quiet folks. I myself have been absent for months now, not even lurking.

Sometimes life is just too busy. I have been working on a masters in special education and raising two reactive attachment disorder children. I pop on only long enough to look at the healing request board.

My husband just the other day explained to me what a "lurker" is....thank you for your words, Aronaya....helps a lot. I've sent some "welcomes" by email to newbies and a few even said, "hello" back. I'm blooming elderly....but I can remember how low my self esteem was back in "those days". Together...we'll make a right difference....won't we....so glad that you're back.
