past life regression readings?

Anyone have this done? I had a friend many years ago that had one done and it was good for her.
During my healing reiki session over the weekend, the reiki master highly suggested that I seek out a past life regression reading. He feels that I have something buried deep. Maybe from a past life even. Which really makes some sense to me since I haven't been able to peel this part away.

dolphin,

- one view is that whatever is left over from one or more past lives is manifested in this life via the Karma one has accumulated over many life times

- or some Karma may yet be manifested and may await the next life (or one thereafter)

- there is no Karma in the past

that makes sense.
I've had a few dreams, mentioned on the boards, and I think that regressions would do me good also.
So I'm gonna check 'em out.

- by all means have a regression reading done

- however, my comments were rather directed to the notion that past life regressions are, in my view, a waste of time and money, to be more direct about it

- as there is no Karma in the past, what we have to learn about and interpret about ourselves is now, in the present

- we also must keep in mind that some of our Karma may not manifest until some future life (this will include some of the Karma we accrue in this life according to the harm or good we engender by what we think, feel, and do)

Dolphin & Jaguar,

Namaste :)

I would like to add that I have known people that have found past life regression to be a negative experience rather than a positive one and have become somewhat 'obsessed' for lack of a better word over something that was supposed to have happened to them. I think if you do it you need to be able to be very objective about it and open minded.

- one of the issues with any sort of "regression" is to what extend the thoughts or memories we perceive (or whatever) are not heavily colored by projections from the Unconscious

- projections from the Unconscious will very often have little resemblence to what might have actualy happened earlier in one's life

- it is a bit like dreaming about events in ones childhood

- rarely, if ever, do they depict things as they actually happened - and in some cases bear no ressemblence at all to actual events

- in effect, Illusion

I hear what your saying and appreciate it et,all. lol.
In my mind if there are issuses in the past whether they are in the present/past, or past/past that may or may not have bearing on my present state of affairs, knowing and dealing with them, might help me discover if there is something in my daily life which would be of benifit and bring my awarness to same. If that makes any sense. I'm aware that there are charlatans out there to make a quick buck at the gullible and the desperate, so i'll be very choosy who i go to. I'm not out to get a quick fix, now. Though,I know that if there is anything on issue, its something that I've to work at long/short and hard at to resolve.

That and an insatiable curiousity.

- remember too, you are not the person you were when 'significant' events may have occurred

- your perceptions of them 'at the time' will be rather different than your perceptions of the 'memories' of the events and the memories of your perceptions of the events

>:-}}

- and, the tools you have may have now to 'work on stuff' may be rather different frm what ever tools you used to deal with 'stuff' in the distant past

- imagine taking a worm out of a can of large bucket of worms - looking at it in a manner you deem to be a careful one and then putting it back back in with all its fellows -without harming it or altering it in any way - then leave

- now, return to the bucket tomorrow and see if you can identify the worm you had selected out earlier?

- perhaps to tighten the experiment a bit, do the sam thing a second time but now take a digital image of the worm you select then set the camera aside without looking at the picture again

- now, the next day, again once you have picked the second worm compare it to the image of the one you selected the day before

Otoharo!

Jaguar. I remember those days. I wanted so much to know who I am really, REALLY am. I was wary around those who could see auras for i imagined that they would see more of me than I even knew! Finally I was with a person who knew me from my beginning of life on earth. It was SO refreshing to find out all those things. Even though what I found out was mostly negative! I now have the chance to heal it all and know what it is I am healing.

Your analogy of the worm, brings a story to mind.

I just made this up, so bare with me.

Once upon a time there was this hook with a worm attached. Now in the way of things this little worm got thrown into the deep end where there were loads of fishes.
One of the fishes took the bait, but it was a runty thing. Even though the worm was tasty, the fish realized it had made a big mistake.
The fisherman seeing that the fish was a runty little thing, took it off the hook and threw it back into the big swim.
Six months later the same hook (different worm) flashed glinting in the sun into the big swim.
Sure enough, a fish took the bait. Little knowing that they'd met before, this time the fish got no second chance and the fisherman had a nice dinner.

Which goes to show you, fish really aren't that bright.
