When despair for the world grows

Read this yesterday & would like to share it. A quote from The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry:

"When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."

Let us appreciate what is.

Peace, love & joy,

Blessings, Holobon, for a wondrous share.

Blessing too, to the Seers~Poets~Atrists, who look within, battle internal dragons, and shine light on our paths from their understanding of the dark ~

From William Faulkner's Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech:
[pardon lack of inclusive language ~ consider the year:1950]

"It is easy enough to say that man is immortal because he will endure: that when the last ding-dong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. I refuse to accept this. I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail.

"He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. The poet's, the writer's, duty is to write about these things. It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past. The poet's voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail."

Thanks, Reiki sister, for a beautiful pillar to lean on.

Dear Beau,

Yes, we are lucky to have pillars such as these to lean upon. Sometimes, when weary, the words of another strike home with so much force & inspiration that one cant help but be uplifted.
The worlds around us contain marvels if we are willing to see them...:)

Have a great day,
