Namaste
There's not been a new message here for ages and I had a question.
Have any of you out there in cafe land changed what kind of clothes you wear recently?
Perhaps its just me and I'm doing my 60's thing now. Or is it a general trend? Maybe people have been doing this for ever and I'm just catching up.
I find I'm getting more picky about styles and colours. I'm not really very interested in clothes but lately I find that I need the right things and what I have isn't it! This means I have to make my own which is fun but I usually work from patterns and the patterns available are just not what I want either. For the first time in my dressmaking life I'm having to make it up as I go along :-% I like using old materials - at the moment I have some 35year old white cotton tablecloths and they're fabulous. Today I made a pair of soft trousers. Me in white trousers - what next :-}} :-D
Anyway I just wondered.
love to all

Eleanor,
Well, there was a time when I enjoyed clothes shopping..wearing a new outfit made me feel good (although there is nothing like the comfort of well worn favorite clothes!)
Actually, there is an absence of creativity as well as practicality in clothes these days, in my opinion. How many women look good in long dresses shaped like sacks? How many can wear spandex & look better than pitifull? Why arent clothes designed with real people in mind? oops...sorry, went off there for a moment. But theres no room for differences & there is a way to clothe every body shape...its just that the designers arent really interested. I have friends of all shapes & sizes & we're all trying to get into the same clothes...it doesnt work!!!
My choices around here are extremes...teeny bopper clothes or old lady clothes....and I dont sew..that why I live in jeans.....

Namaste...
Thank goodness for jeans! and sweats...and Nikes! I do not now, nor ever before had a model's proportions....I find it frustrating to go clothes shopping, and have no talent for creating my own....so, I wear the same old over 5 year old or more clothes......when will it ever change??
Joining in holobon's rant.....

Hello All!
I too can't find clothes I like or look good in. I have sewn for many years, but haven't done much in the past few years. The patterns are starting to look the same!
Do any of you need to try on clothes even if you like their looks? I saw a neat catalog J.Jill, they have the kinds of things I like, flowing and comfortable. But I need to try things on, so catalog shopping never really works out for me.
If you come up with a solution, let me know!
Love,
Lorrie.

Hi Lorrie!
IF I catalog shop, I try to find ones that have a liberal return policy, where they pick it up no charge. VERY few do that, so I order very little, as I too have to try things on.

Greetings,
One size still don't fit my all! I also am thankful but for velcro! It is a blessing to just swipe at my shoes rather than try to reach them to tie them. The other alturnative is birkenstocks.(but how to afford them - heavy sigh)
Thrift shops is my answer to what will fit and is usually very expressive of me. My kids have fits over what I buy, but the very items they 'hate' are the first ones to vanish from my closet.
Jeans and t-shirts are the best and most comfortable year round. Besides they wash beautifully.
I wonder if I could barter for awesome clothes . . . a reiki treatment for a dress . . .
