Taking time to be in nature

" In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous" - Aristotle

"The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard" - Standing Bear

" In God's wildness lies the hope of the world- the great, fresh, unblighted, unredeemed wilderness" - John Muir

Enjoy your day today...notice the living world around you...feel the breeze against your cheek or hear it's rustling in the trees...perhaps the smell of rain...the movement of the clouds in the sky....the flight of birds and the chattering of squirrels...the tracks of animals passing in the night...the passing butterfly or bee...
just for today!!!

Dear Holobon
I knew I could rely on you to start my day with a smile - thank you for your beautiful posting. Just one thing - please dont mention the squirrels. We have some who took up living in a post at the front of our house last year and enjoyed nibbling on the wood :-( We trapped them safely and removed them beyond the city limits....about 20 mins ride in a fast car....They're back! (I told my husband they were hitching rides back on the roofs of peoples cars) and we now have to catch them again and move them...Dont get me wrong I love the furry animals, but I love my house more ..this is War!

Dear Eaglestar,
Uh oh...declaring war is a mistake...the squirrels always win!!! HeHe...what wood is the post made of? special wood? Can you oil it with Crisco so they slide down it? That worked for me on a bird feeder...was quite funny to watch, actually... And perhaps pitch another post somewhere else for them? You could try hanging a kite nearby that looks like a hawk or large bird..the shadow might frighten them away....actually, you may just have another squirrel family there, not the original ones...that must be some awesome post!!!
Good Luck,

Again congratulations.
As you sit and contemplate your accomplishment meditate on what your hearing about you. One by one identify the sounds and take from your awareness. Try and bring your focus to just one single solitary sound. Then describe that sound. What is that sound, and where do you hear thar sound in your head.
This may appear a foolish statement, but be aware are you hearing it in your right ear your left ear, or in the center
of your head.
Good luck

Hehehhe, still giggling about this... The post in question is a supporting one for the house (!) inside a square brick tube and the little darlings were making their nest inside it. Not to fear, we caught both of them yesterday and released them in a wooded area outside the city limitsThe post does indeed make a lovely home and if they weren't trying to eat my house I would love to watch the babies playing like we did last year. You laugh about it being the same ones, but one poor squirrel I caught last year had a scar on his nose. Being lazy I didnt drive far enough away before releasing him and he really did make it back to our house after three days!!!

Most interesting, T2......
I will have to try that...imagine that takes some mastery to seperate the sound...it would be great if it was the one sound of the universe...but my mind is busy with the sounds of the world...need time to sit quietly & center myself, relax....oh, for the time to do that!!!

Dear Holobon
All is quiet in the war zone - the squirrels have been moved safely to a nice wooded area many miles away - we have to drive past it every time we go skiing and we are careful on the way back, listening for the gentle thud on the roof of the van which tells us we have a squirrel hitching a ride back to town! As for bats, no such luck, I love bats & wouldnt mind if one moved in. Sadly we currently have a baby bird sitting on the roof of our deck. We cant reach it and it is outside my daughter's room. It is so difficult to explain the Laws of Nature to a caring reiki-child who wants to bring it inside and look after it -in my own experience this nevers works very well even with reiki helping - I think it is just stunned and may well be able to recover and fly off tomorrow - otherwise I will have lots of explaining to do to my 10yr old. :-(

Dear Eaglestar,

Sounds as if you live in a wonderful home amid the furry & winged beasts. HaHa, obviously, more beasts than you desire!!!
Your daughter will learn an important lesson from you; our desires are not often what is best for the natural world.

Bats are OK, its the guano thats the issue!! BAGL......

Have a wonderful day!!

I had forgotten about the guano :-) Sadly the bird as predicted did not make it through the night. Even more sadly my daughter thought it was alive but it was in fact the wind ruffling its feathers :-( In the way that only a 10 year old can she pondered life's mysteries for a moment and then went skiing with her father! :-) I on the other hand feel awful about the bird and will have to try and retrieve its corpse from the roof today... Glad you had a wonderful Level 3 experience...have a wonderful day...

Dear Eaglestar,

If I were the bird, I would prefer that way of "passing" to being eaten by a hawk...so maybe all is for the best.

The sound that you'll finally separate out of all the sounds about you, will be your unique sound that connects you to the universe. Once you hear it and identify it
it will be easier for you to relax and be in harmony with your surrounding.

I don't mean this to sound the way it's written but clean your ears, then envision the Reiki symbols at all your major chakras and be patient. Recognize each of the different clutter sounds around you, identify them one by one, and them put them out of your mind.
Then listen deeper and do the same, recognize the sounds of clutter and then delete the sounds of clutter. When you finally get to YOUR SOUND you'll feel it. This sound will bring you in harmony with the harmonic cords in your brain stem.
Do you remember a sound that permeated the room when you recived Reiki three. If you don't remember, don't worry we're all different. Once you find it, it will never leave you. No matter what is happening around you you'll be able
to find that sound and be at peace.

I Don't know if this will work for you, but it has worked with some success in the past with tinnitus.
My question is... is the tinnitus itself tring to tell you to listen deeper. Does it get louder as you meditate and listen? If it does have someone else try
clapping their as you get very deep into the meditation.
Remember you'l bee in an altered state and the clap will bring you back into a physical realm. As a said this did
work once but I surprised the begeevers out of the client.
If you can't find someone to help you let me know.

Hi T2
Yes, I am a great believer in the metaphysical side of things and I know only too well that tinnitus is attributed to not listening or rather not wanting to hear.... I have work to do on this so we shall see if in time the tinnitus disappears. It is interesting that both my mother and her mother suffer too - they say we learn everything from our parents and I can see now how my mother and hers too have a lot of the same issues - I am working very hard to try and ensure that I break the pattern for my own daughter! :) It is hard sometimes because I remember a time when I could sit in nature and hear the silence - I never have true silence now - the tinnitus first followed a bout of antibiotics and they list tinnitus as a possible side-effect. That period in time, though, was also the one which could have started the 'not wanting to hear' part too - hmmmm! I will try your suggestion, and will let you know how it goes. Thank you for your kindness.

I didn't think about it till just now(after I got a new pair of glasses)so I hope I'm writing to the correct person
(please tell me I'm writing to the correct person)
As I stood in front of the mirror this AM
I saw myself in front of the mirror. After I got over the initial schock of that(ha ha) I heard the high pitch ting over all the other noises in the room. I think it's ironic we're writing about the sounds that surround us.

Eaglestar,

Certain antibiotics can cause deafness as well as tinnitus. Hopefully you know the name of the antibiotic you took & your doctor is aware of it also. It would be a good idea to avoid its use if possible.
I have a problem with sinusitis & am bothered by tinnitis at times although for a short period of time. I have found that REIKI over the ears, the eyes & the crown help.

Dear Holobon
What was that you said ??? :) Joking aside, we have a lot of deafness in the family too (not looking good for my old age so far!) Unfortunately, being allergic to penicillin my options for antibiotics have been somewhat limited, but I do know which one it was so I avoid that. Thanks for the suggestion - I do reiki my ears a lot so I hope things will improve - probably when I decide to "listen" and act on what I know I am being told... :)
