Magnet Therapy - Fact or Fiction?!

Namaste,

Hello all you good people,

Magnet Therapy? There are many sites that are for it, and give many details and info to support all this alternative therapy "can" do, and there are just as many sites stating this is all hype, a fad...that this too shall pass. I have not personally tried it, so have no first hand knoweldge.

Would any of you have any personal knowledge or experience with his...for or against?

Thank you all so much.

Be well, happy, blessed, and safe, always
Dina

I am all for magnet therapy. A couple of years ago I bought some magnetic bracelets for my wrist. Due to my occupation my right wrist becomes irritated a lot. The bracelets helped a lot, when I first put them on I could actually feel my wrist tingling with the energy.

Hi Dina,

I don't use them, but my mom does. She has arthritis in her neck and she wears a magnetic necklace which she swears helps.

Blessings,
Kathryn

Hi Dina,

An co-worker (from a number of years ago) used them in her shoes and swore by them.

My husband had a shoulder injury and my co-worker was sure the magnetic therapy would help so gave a shoulder brace/harness to him to try out. It didn't have any effect whatsoever.

LOL, one for and one against!

With light and love,
Featherpoint

Dear Dina,
Several years ago I began to experience hip pain that worsened progressively & eventually required Motrin around the clock for relief. The doctor could find nothing on exam & I went through xrays, Ct scan, MRI. I remember spending a whole weekend on the sofa with a heating pad, limping around like I was disabled. It hurt to walk, bend over, bear weight & climb stairs. I was miserable. A friend turned me onto magnetic soles & in desperation I tried them... after several days of wearing them I felt better. Thinking it was all in my head, I removed the magnets & the pain returned. I tried them again & the pain eased & then disappeared. I repeated that test several times believing I was experiencing a placebo effect. The doctor thought I was nuts when I told him about the magnets. I used a back magnet, a magnetic necklace & bracelet for months, I wore the magnetic soles for about 2 years. The pain will return every once in awhile but I no longer take 1200mg of Ibuprofen & I no longer use the magnets except on those occasions.

peace & joy,
holobon

I have several screws/brace in my ankle. On many occasions it is difficult to walk, due to weather, how much walking I did the previous day, etc.

I've found that the magnets are about the only thing that helps, both the little sticky magnets, and the sole magnets.

The thing is that you can't wear them forever...you wear them for a bit, then take a break, and just use them when you need them.

Blessings,

Priestess

You make a good point. Magnets should never be used for extended periods of time. Magnets adjust the energy field. Wearing them too long will also disrupt the energy field. Which will cause its own troubles.

Blessings to you

Dina,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- the best I can say is that it\they are no panacea

- too many reports of "no difference"

- this does not negate reports of "positve" effects but makes one wonder about the indivdual variables involved that are quite independent of any magnetic field change a small magnet might make

- my guess?? Intent (to some degree)

- I have not heard anyone say they have had a bad experience with magnets of the size one would wear, etc

- larger electro-magnetic fields are, of course, another matter

- if you are thinking of trying it??

- go for it - certainly not likely to harm you

>:-}}

- but I would be interested in anyone who has had a "bad" expereince with this magnet stuff

I have had a negative experience with magnets in the past and, as a result, I refrain from using them.

Yes, at first there is a "warming" sensation, that seems to melt away painful symptoms. But, following quickly there is a feeling of disorientation and weakness that sweeps throughout my physical body/mind accompanied with nausea, dizziness and a feeling of unreality. It was not very pleasant experience for me. I did not feel like my normal healthy self for two days.

I experienced this while holding a "negative" magnet in one hand and a "positive" magnet in the other. I played pulling them apart and attempting to push them together for a couple of minutes (not thinking anything of it), my 5 yr. old nephew was playing with it, and handed to me to play with. So, I did....until, I noticed a feeling of sickness quickly rushing through me. I put the magnets down, feeling disoriented. I continued feeling sick for two days.

The best way to describe the feeling/sensation I experienced was this: Riding on a roller-coaster with your eyes shut......"Yukky feeling", for me.

Thank you for allowing me and other's the opportunity to share our experiences with magnets that did not appear so pleasant. However, I do feel many people do and are experiencing wonderful and positive benefits from magnet therapy. The fact that magnets are not good for one, does not mean they are not good for another.

Spiritbutter,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I am not sure what a positive and negative magnet is??

- as far as I know evey magnet has at least two poles

- they may attract or repel each other depending

>:-}}

- that you might have set up some unsettling eddy currents is within the realms of possibility

- but my sense of what you describe is a bit like being a slightly sea-sick, if that is possible

I thank you for taking time to respond Firekeeper.

I have refered to it as "positive" and "negative" terms when, in fact, it is as you've said, in the best terms "attract" and "repel". My referrence to it was the "attract" meant positive and "repel" meant negative (in my present way of thinking of it) at that point time.

May I ask........what is "eddy" currents?

spiritbutter,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- an eddy can occur when the usual flow is disturbed by something in the "stream"

- or literally a stream

- if you watch the flow of water until it gets to a sufficiently large boulder?? the water goes around the "blockage" but a back-current is set up on the downstream side of the boulder - the water current actually goes in the opposite direction of the main flow of the stream

- a great place to cast to trout (or other fish) who have found a place to rest

>:-}}

- other energy may act similarly if an impedence is put in the "stream"

- these back-currents are called eddys or eddies

- for myself?? attracting and repelling are not inherently positive or negative - from a feeling\judgement perspective

>:-}}

- hope this helps
