I would like to request healing because a family member is going to be deployed to Iraq this month. It just hit me that this is real and I spent a couple of hours today crying about it. I can't believe this is happening.
To make things worse, my husband is now mad at me because I'm upset about something that might not even happen. So now we're in a fight.

- I cannot tell from your post whether your family member's deployment is certain or not - but these days I suppose just about anyone in the military could end up over there (or perhaps eventually in Lebanon)

- and over the weekend I belieive I heard on CNN something mentioned about the Draft (which we do not have at the moment)

Sweet, i've dodged school and work but never the military!!! Now maybe i can get my chance. Do you think they'll want me in the army when they come to pick me up and I piss on their shoes?

All mean-natured joking aside. They mentioned drafting people again not to long after the invasion of Iraq began. I figured they ditched the plan. I am curious as to why they would speak of it now though. I believe last year they basically fired like 1500 airmen from the Air Force because they had too many. Everyone was rushing to take part in the conquest..err..liberation of IRaq.

- but, yes the Army is having a bit of trouble getting volunteers since we have no draft - while the Air Force and Navy are laying off personnel by not allowing some to re-enlist - probably to reduce expenditures on non-combat personnel so more money can be diverted to 'winning the war on terror'

- so, it seems there is no great rush to volunteer to go to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

- I am no fan of the Draft (having served 13 months in theater durning Viet Nam) but I do take issue with those who support the invasion of Iraq but do so from their over-stuffed chairs

- support the troops? Sure. They (99.8% of them)) go where they are ordered, like it or not. Support the decision to invade Iraq? Not on your life.

Is it possible to give us a name or initial for your family member? It makes it easier, at least for me. If not, it's okay, I can just send Reiki to the situation.
