The Reiki Cafe 

I have contracted a serious sinus infection. As I am now too weak to perform Reiki on myself, I would like to request some help. I may not be able to get antibiotics for several days. As I have an artificial heart valve, I am supposed to be on antibiotics immediately upon bacterial infections. The person who regularly works on me, Diamondlight, is also ill with the same thing. I would appreciate help for both of us.

This "winter crud" has been going around a lot earlier this year.

--Herbmom's prescription 'till you get to the doctor--
~ Hot showers with plenty of steam,
~ a warm water vaporizer with a few drops of peppermint and/or eucalyptus and
~ steam inhalation (boil water, put your head over a towel and breath in the steam, add herbs to your liking)

To both Herbmom and Earthmist, thank you! I am feeling a bit silly having forgotten the steam! Pot is on the stove on low and a cup of tea is in my lap. Had a stressful trip this week. Good stress, but stress none-the-less. So I got run down. I can get to the pharmacy without a hitch. Getting through to the dr. is another matter on this day!

Anyway, I have had a powerful week and did not want to ruin it with this nose of mine. There is healing power involved in just knowing someone is out there who is really caring and these two responses have had a good effect on me already. Thank you.

How miserable! I remember having a sinus infection while pregnant and not able to take any over the counter stuff. I did get some relief from drinking ginger tea. Just add a tsp. of household ginger to hot water and drink. I would drink it quickly (as the taste is not so great :-) and my head would just drain! (Keep the tissues nearby bagl)

And of course, would be my blessing to send you reiki...

Mamabear, I had not heard of drinking ginger tea before. I will bet that works good!

I was thinking of a ginger bath. A drop or two of Ginger and/or black pepper (essential oil) in the bath will really heat you up from the inside, and will clear your sinuses, as well as anything else that may be cold!

I am in the same boat...I can suggest ( for the future) the purchase of a Neti Pot..a small ceramic pot that looks like a Genie's lamp..you fill it with warm salt water, turn your head to the side & put the nozzle in one nostril..pour the water into one nostril & it comes out the other. One has to hold the head in perfect position to prevent water going down back of throat, but its very easy to do & loosens up the stuff for drainage. I purchased it from a magazine with natural health products.
Another perfectly wonderful thing is Guanefesin syrup ( Robitussin)..get the PLAIN guanefesin ( generic is fine) that doesnt have other drugs added in..it liquifies the secretions so they can drain. The worst thing is to let the secretions get like glue, then you are in misery. The key is to loosen & mobilize the secretions !! Even my medical doctor reccommends guanefesin ( we dont often think alike..LOL)....and of course..liquids, liquids, liquids.
Hope you are feeling better soon. I was on antibiotics for a week & still have it although not as bad, it just wont leave!!

Ooops..forgot to suggest spot Reiki..just Reiki your eyes & your temples a few times a day..it will help & doesnt require alot of energy on your part.

This is the kind of Reiki I have used for years but not under the Reiki name. I can usually get this to work quite well in the early stages of a disease. This time I got walloped badly enough that I cannot get enough energy going to do the task. Both Diamondlight and I have felt Reiki from a number of sources in the last 24 hours and with a good deal of positive outcomes. I still have a bacterial infection for which I am now on antibiotics, but the sinuses drained COMPLETELY yesterday. That has never happened before.

Thank you, all, for the help. You have made this bout much more tolerable. Now, if I can only get the software for my CD burner to work! AAAAHHhhhh!
