Help with Distant Healing Requests

I would like to respectfully suggest that people requesting healing please indicate the general geographic location of the person in need of Reiki healing. Frankly, it surprises me how often this information is not provided, and how irrelevant it seems to be for many Reiki practitioners. But for those of us who are less experienced (or less confident), at least knowing where the Reiki is being sent would be helpful and re-assuring, especially since the person is a total stranger. Clicking on the name of the person posting the message will usually reveal their location, but that is not necessarily where the person who actually needs the Reiki is located.

Also, I am curious to know if there is a suggested length of time one should spend on any individual healing request (five minutes? more than that?) I realize there are no rigid time limits in Reiki, but am just wondering what the rest of you think.

Thanks!
Marc

Namaste Marc,

Regarding the length of time one should spend giving distance Reiki, I've found that between 15-30 minutes is optimal in most cases, but too much can't hurt, and if you only have 5 minutes, well, some Reiki is better than no Reiki!

In love and light,

Hi Marc,

Namaste :)

I too prefer to work with a location or age or something that identifies the said recepient from another person with possibly the same name somewhere else :))

I know that our guides tend to take care of the details, but I prefer to work like this if possible.

With regards to the healing time...my RM had a good idea, when she didn't have much time to spare then she would use the HSZSN symbol to stretch time ie so that 2 minutes represents 5 minutes :) Personally I go with what feels right at the time...sometimes I combine my own self treatment with sending a distant healing to someone that I feel needs a lot of healing.

Love,light and Blessings
Helen.

Dear Jamie (Tidesong), Peter (Firekeeper) and Helen (Rainbow):

Thank you all very much for taking the time to respond. I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who prefers some kind of cues about location before sending Reiki. The comments about duration were also helpful.

Love and Light,
Marc

Namaste

When I had my reiki II attunements I was taught to use hands on with a teddy, doll, or even your leg and do a proper treatment. It was quicker though, 20-30 minutes. My reiki master also told us that she did a quicker method just by asking.

I soon became inundated with requests and would never have had time for full treatments for everyone, so I did some experiments using the quick method.

I had a close friend who was willing to help. I sent reiki the first night the way I'd been taught. The next night I sent the reiki just by asking for it, with no 'work' at my end. He reported back to me that the reiki the second night had been much stronger to him.

I then mentioned it to another friend who is a reiki master (but not mine) and she couldn't understand how it could possibly work like that. She also did a lot of distance work and spent all her evenings in her treatment room, giving distant treatments, which she charged for. She asked if I would send it 'my' way to her.

She was stunned by the results and I don't think she does the 'hands-on' distance any more. She doesn't teach this method in her classes though.

I have a sort of prayer that I say when I send reiki like this -

I ask for reiki to be sent to .......at........ on..... I ask that their higher self accepts the energy and for permission to enter their personal space. I invite the reiki guides, spirit guides and any from the angelic realm to join in the healing. May this healing be for the highest good of all concerned and last for as long as is required. I ask that we work for the light and with the light and that this healing is brought with truth, with much love and with wisdom.

Symbols and names are also included. I've even sent it for periods of time - e.g. a week, or so many days, at a time.

I know of one person who writes a list and sends reiki to everyone on the list at the same time. I've never done that. I feel that everyone should have their own individual prayer! Another friend has an elaborate method of writing down all the details and putting it in a box and sending reiki to it that way - I didn't connect with that either.

I don't know how other people send distant reiki. I know this works for me.

As always I'd be interested to hear other's views on this subject.

Hugs to everyone.
