Hello!
My name is Andrew Durkin, and I am the leader of the Industrial Jazz Group, a large-and-wacky acoustic jazz ensemble based in LA. We're coming out to the east coast this January for a showcase at the IAJE conference in NYC.
I have been booking other local gigs in an effort to make a small tour of it, but we still have some open dates. I recently got the hare-brained idea to fall
back on the time-honored tradition of house parties, and so I am submitting a proposal to this board in case any of you might be interested in having us perform in your home!
Here are the specs:
1. We are on the large side, between 10 and 15 players depending on the space. Though we are acoustic (traditional jazz instrumentation: saxes, brass,
rhythm section + some vocals) we can get moderately loud. Not heavy metal loud, but loud enough that you'd probably want to schedule something during the day or early evening.
2. (Free associating here:) We're not mainstream jazz. You can dance / drink / make noise to our songs. Some of our tunes feature a singer. We usually wear costumes. We have been described as purveyors of avant-g
