New York Through the Eyes of African Immigrants

Art Gallery Opening

Reception & Collector Preview

Refreshments will be served

Africans are one of the fastest immigrant groups in NYC; over 56% have entered the City since the 1990's, according to the US Census. Their point of view is not obvious to the general population. Through art, "New York Through the eyes of African Immigrants" creates a space for people to take a peek across the fence to mutual understanding, not just tolerance.

Without "New York Through the Eyes of African Immigrants", New Yorkers will continue to have little cultural reference, nor clue to the life experiences of African Immigrants in the 21st century.

We cannot afford to wait to learn about our fellow New Yorkers.

Audiences will view the work of several prominent African Visual Artists away from the galleries and institutions and will also have the opportunity to buy. Artwork sales proceeds will bo to Africana Outreach inc.

Clearly, this very important initiative can educate and help people take collective action without bias and judgement.

"NY Through the Eyes of African Immigrants" is free and open to the public.

Exhibit runs April 16-22 2007
