This is a community site for people who are looking for an easy way to meet new friendly people in and around the Hoboken, NJ area.
The purpose of this site is to provide a social venue for residents in the area to meet new friends and organize events. When you join, you can fill out your profile to let other's know more about you and even upload pictures to your personal photo gallery. Please note that despite the fact this has similiar functionality to many dating sites, it's not meant to be used that way. While the features of the site help to get an introduction to people virtually, the real point of the site is to bring people together for live events. This is how you truly get to know people.
Please do not fill out your profile like a personal ad and DO NOT send emails to people thinking that their profile is a personal ad. You can post personal ads in the classifieds section.
Live events are the point of this site and anyone can post an event and invite others to join in. If you have an event that you want to run, just post it in the events section of the site to let everyone know about it. When you RSVP to an event, it will show up on your profile so people can see what events you will be going to.
This site also has a classifieds section because many people have asked for one. You have to be registered to post but anyone can reply to an ad. This site will send replies directly to your email without you having to expose your email address. This system is set up this way to protect your email address from spam robots. Spam robots search web pages looking for email addresses to put on spam lists. If your email address is displayed on a web page, it will most likely start getting lots of spam mail.
The one overiding rule here is not to be abusive, insulting or derogatory toward others on the site. The message boards on this site are for the purpose of enabling people in the group to continue to socialize in between events and is mostly used by people who already know each other. It is a moderated tool for the community and not an open forum where "anything goes". Fighting on the boards is simply NOT ALLOWED. Like anywhere else in life, you will not like everyone you come across and many people find it very easy to say things on-line, that they would never say face to face. You may disagree and debate with someone but name calling, personal attacks, and unfounded blame statements are not allowed. Doing so can result in removal from the site.
It is the people who use this community that make it useful. If you think that it's a good idea, please tell your friends about it and encourage them to join in. This will only make the site more useful for yourself.
