The New York Metro area is teaming with people yet it can still be difficult to connect and develop new meaningful relationships. Why is it that it was so easy to make lots of friends in school, yet once out in the "real world" we very rarely establish new friendships and those connections we do make are usually with people from work?
The answer may be because it takes time to develop bonds with people and there are not many venues outside of work that enable us to spend that much time with strangers. The function of this Cafe is to provide such a venue. This site allows any user to organize an event and post it to the events section. There are also many site sponsored events (Cafe events) organized by Cafe event leaders. these events provide the means to easily meet new people and, over time, get to know them. The message boards provide a virtual space where you can continue to interact with those you have met and have yet to meet.
If you are single and looking for romance, then you should join the NoDating.com section of the site. This is specificly for singles looking to meet other singles at local events.
The one overriding rule here is not to be abusive, insulting or derogatory toward others on the site. The message boards on this site are for the purpose of enabling people in the group to continue to socialize in between events. It is a moderated tool for the community and not an open forum where "anything goes". Fighting on the boards is simply NOT ALLOWED.Like anywhere else in life, you will not like everyone you come across and many people find it very easy to say things on-line, that they would never say face to face. You may disagree and debate with someone but name calling, personal attacks, and unfounded blame statements are not allowed. Doing so can result in removal from the site.
