Hoboken questions
If you live in Hoboken, how long have you been here?
I no longer live in Hoboken, although I did grow up there. For 23 years
I lived there, and still consider it home. When I was growing up,
Hoboken was not the considered "cool." There was a certain stigma
to living there that I wore with a big attitude. I still embrace my
hometown and miss it very much.
My Hoboken was filled with longshoreman, waterfront buckets of
blood, oldtimers who had enough character to fill the pages of any
great American novel.
I left for too many reasons...and have been torn about this for more
than half my life.
What do you like about Hoboken?
I love its character, acceptance, diversity (which seems to be fading),
toughness, beauty, culture, history, its mind numbing politics that
keeps the blood boiling, and the fact that for me it will always be
home.
What do you dislike about Hoboken?
All of the above.
