General questions
What do you do for a living?
Mainly freelance artist. Also university visiting lecturer in History of Art. Researcher. Occasional conference papers.
What religions or philosophies of life do you believe in?
I guess thesedays I am closest to Spiritualism. My background is Jewish and Christian. I try to see the best in all relgions, and believe that religion can be a bridge between cultures if approached with sympathetic understanding. I abhorr the use of religion to bless armies going to war. I believe that religion should be a matter of private choice, not imposed on people. I approve Pacifism, from general ethical principles; while hoping that I will never be faced with such a choice. I believe that all good people go to heaven, regardless of their religion. And I believe that all souls eventually go to heaven, after learning various lessons. Every soul is a unique spark of the divine, without which God is unfulfilled. I believe that this world exists in order to provide opportunities for the exchange of loving-kindness. I do not believe in hell, except insofar as we make this world into a hell for ourselves. I do not believe in predestination: all souls can learn and grow better.
What are your favorite books?
Too many to number.
What type of books do you like to read?
I go through phases. At present, I am engrossed in Russian literature.
What type of movies or television shows do you watch?
Nature. History. Science. Arts. Also I love the Simpsons and Futurama. I recently saw Girl With A Pearl Earring, which was absolutely stunning.
What kind of music do you like?
All kinds. I particularly like arias from operas, cello concertos, Balkans folk music.
What type of foods do you like to eat?
I like to experiment, and discover new recipes from different countries.

What are some of your interests?
Everything. Especially art, Reiki, and alternative medicine generally. I wish I had time to explore all of life to the full.
What achievements in your life are you most proud of?
Reiki "mastership". I've managed/assisted some cures of chronically ill people by applying such knowledge as I have of alternative medicine. I've helped some people by charity work and donations. I stood by my partner through her long and difficult mental illness, and raised our child. I can only hope this compensates for some of the bad in my life.

How did you find Reiki and how long have you been involved with Reiki?
I first came across a book on a second-hand stall. It spoke to me so clearly that I felt I had come home at last. That was in the summer of '98.
What style or styles of Reiki do you practice?
I practice traditional Usui Reiki. I have also studied Karuna and Seichim, both to Master level, but I do not feel moved at present either to use or to share these other styles.
What other (if any) healing modalalites have you practiced besides Reiki?
Bach Flower Therapy, which in my opinion is Reiki in a bottle. This suits some clients, who like to have a medicine which they can take at home. And I have also studied classical homoeopathy, which I sometimes prescribe. I have witnessed some remarkable results with both these therapies; but the former is much easier both to prescribe and use. I am qualified in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. I employ both these skills in reiki treatments. Client-centered thinking helps case-taking and case management. It also helps when sharing reiki. I often feel moved to use hypnotic suggestion, for example positive affirmations, during a reiki healing, once the subject is deeply relaxed.
