Description

I have practiced Reiki daily for ten years and have been a Reiki Master for eight. When I first heard the word, Reiki, I knew that "it" (whatever it was) was what I had been looking for.

Due to my professional background in the medical world and specifically in behavioral health, I feel that my personal mission in my practice is to facilitate bringing Reiki into the medical world. Currently, I am working with hospitals and large medical facilities to teach health practitioners of all disciplines to use Reiki with their patients, but more importantly, on themselves.

I live in southwest Washington with my significant other, my 18 year old daughter and 7 year old son, five cats, two dog, and baby opossums (I do wildlife rehab).

I opened an official Reiki practice in October 2007!!

General questions

What do you do for a living?

I have recently opened an office where I practice Reiki.

What religions or philosophies of life do you believe in?

Philosophically, I enjoy many perspectives. Personally, I don't have a "religion" I practice however, my leanings are toward the Pagan, although I don't like what that term implies in the common lingo. I have a very satisfying, yet diffuse way of worshiping in nature.

What are your favorite books?

I have been reading obsessively since I was four years old. My list of favorites is always getting longer and longer. Enduring favorites include Harry Potter, the Dune Chronicles, and very recently, I have discovered William Irwin Thompson. I have loved every word that man has written!

What type of books do you like to read?

All kinds. I love texts books but for fun, I'll read anything but a romance novel or a serial mystery type.

What type of movies or television shows do you watch?

Science Channel and National Geographic!

What kind of music do you like?

Everything but country!

What type of foods do you like to eat?

Indian and Thai

Do you consider yourself to be more of a conservative or liberal person?

I am most decidedly liberal

What do you like to do for fun?

Rock hunting is my family passion. We live in a geologically rich area and may be found out in the woods at every opportunity. I also enjoy painting.

What are some of your interests?

Superfluous to answer as the response would change from day to day. I am interested in nearly everything. It's an interesting world!

What achievements in your life are you most proud of?

My children.

How did you find Reiki and how long have you been involved with Reiki?

While working in a chiropractic clinic in Boulder, Colorado (A job I didn't like but felt directed to be with) I met a woman, who claimed in her personal information to be a Reiki Master. Without having a clue what Reiki was, I knew that I was a Reiki Master too. Shortly after having this epiphany, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where I began a search for information about Reiki (not readily available at the time) and a Reiki Master. The search took two years and at the moment that I was certain that I had imagined my kinship with the word, Reiki and sort of gave up the hunt, I found the most wonderful teacher and received First Degree attunements. I received the Second Degree a few months later and Master attunements two years after that. Totaled, I have been practicing Reiki on a daily basis for nearly eleven years.

What style or styles of Reiki do you practice?

I have never dismissed any style of Reiki practice, nor do I expect to. The Universe is limitless and I enjoy exploring any possibilities.

What other (if any) healing modalalites have you practiced besides Reiki?

I have always had an affinity for stones and have throughout my life collected hundreds of specimens from all over. I use them in my Reiki practice and a large part of my Second Degree class is focused on the uses of healing minerals.
