Description
Hello world! It's me, you know, just another aspect of you. Or rather, like you, another aspect of the I AM. (I'm doing my best to be a light unto the world, even if it's only in the act of a genuine smile given to a passerby. God/dess they say is in the details. If you look at the immence size of the universe, you could say we are in a sence, the details. Let your Divinity shine!)
I've recently begun teaching Reiki and it has been quite the experience. And although practicaly all of the teachers and practitioners that I have met (wonderfull people!) are female, my first 3 students are male! I do hope to see more men in with the Reiki vibes, give it a nice yin/yang kind of balance. I also have been reading the Taro for the last 15 years, and am currently applying to art school, something I've wanted to do for at least as long. It takes as long as it takes to find one's path. Or at the very least, to accept the path that has been denied. In my case, I beleived my mother when she said art was not practical, and should be kept as a hobby. So for years I've been trying to subdue an aspect of my self that, as it turns out, is more me than the person I was trying to be. I went from job to job, always hoping that this will be where I fit. My experience with Reiki has helped me to see that when I am doing what I love, what i've always loved (creative arts) I am trully alive and living life on purpose. The next few years should be interesting.
Questionaire
General questions
What do you do for a living?
Well, I've had many a stint cashiering in the retail world, as a nanny, a framer, and most recently a dental lab tech. But what I really want to do is direct... Ok, bad joke. I was layed off back in Dec of 2002, and have remained so scine then, but I am utilizing this time to get everything together for the application to art school, a dream I 've had for more than 15 years. Better late than never!
What religions or philosophies of life do you believe in?
I do not subscribe to any organized religion, mainly because I've never been what one would call a "joiner". I prefer to follow my own path to the Divine aspect with-in and with-out. My leanings are toward Wicca and Witchcrafting, as well as Bhudism, and (interestingly) mysticism and quantum physics. If you get a chance, peruse a book called "mysticism and the new physica" by Michael Talbot. He also wrote "the holographic universe", very facsinating stuff; he makes connections between science and mysticism and it's really a great read for those interested in the nature of conciousness. And the basic philosophy is "to thine own Self be true".
What are your favorite books?
Aside from the two mentioned above: Creative Visualization by Shacti Gwain, Time- The Ultimate Energy by Murry Hope, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Stalking the Wild Pendulum by Itzac Bentof, just about everything Sherri S. Tepper has written (scifi), Louise Hay's books, The Abundance Book and The Success Book both by John Randolph Price, Miracles and Life was Never Meant to be a Struggle by Stuart Wilde, The Spiral Dance by Starhawk, Peace Is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh, You Can Feel Good Again by Richard Carlson..I think I'm going a little overboard with this list, as you can tell I like to read.
What type of books do you like to read?
What, the list above isn't enough of a clue?:)
What type of movies or television shows do you watch?
I try not to. When I had cable the few shows I did watch were on the Discovery channel, the Learning channel, the Scifi channel, Animal Planet and A&E. As far as movies go, the only genre I can't do is horror, and just about anything where they try to kill, maim and dismember beings for "entertainment" purposes. I don't consider it entertainment but another way to numb the reaction to inhumane treatment.
What kind of music do you like?
Very eclectic taste, though recently I've been getting into worl-techno-ambiance type of stuff.
What type of foods do you like to eat?
Fresh fruits, veggies, rice, pasta, tofu (yumm), sushi, Thai & Chinese cuisine, I try to avoid eating meat nowadays, but I crave chicken once in a while.
Do you consider yourself to be more of a conservative or liberal person?
Oh, liberal, for sure.
What do you like to do for fun?
Play with my art supplies, dance, sing, movies, meditation, walk in the woods, make fancy dinners for friends, make friends laugh...
What are some of your interests?
Art, music, healing, philosophy, nature, cooking
What achievements in your life are you most proud of?
"The fates lead him who will, him who won't- they drag."
I've been led and dragged and I must say I enjoy the former much more than the latter, but it does wonders to ballance the ego's pride, and the pride that comes from living your life on purpose.
Reiki questions
What Reiki level are you?
Practitioner/Teacher
How did you find Reiki and how long have you been involved with Reiki?
I'd been woking for a dental lab for two years, sitting next to the grumpiest old man I'd ever worked for. About a month before I decided I had to get out of there, I developed ovarian cysts (I've never had that kind of thing before). About a week after I left, the cysts went away, never to return. According to Louise Hay the ovaries represent creativity and I had been feeling so stifled and drained by the environment I was in, it's not very surprizing. My search for new employment began anew and I had great dificulty finding work in the field I was in, so I took a job at a framing company and worked at two different locations for almost a month. That is when I met Patricia, with whom I had instant rappor, but only saw her once a week. A short while before I left we got to talking about healing and she said she was a Reiki II practitioner. When she explained to me what it was, I was immediatly intrigued. Shortly there after, I got an offer from a dental lab I'd applied to before but at the time there were no positions open. I took the job, and Pat and I got to see each other only 3 or 4 times before she moved to LA. A couple of months later, I went to Women of Wisdom, and had my first attunement. It was terrific in a rather subtle yet powerfull way. And I've been expanding my education eversince. The journey continues....
